    I abhor violence and I don’t want this to ever be considered normal or acceptable. Once again, we need actual gun regulation in this country.

    That being said, fuck that guy in particular. He, his ideology, and the causes he advocates for are monstrous and no amount of violence against him should be used to wash any of that away. Make no mistake, his political ideology has helped build the society that is making this kind of horror more commonplace. Let’s not forget, the society that HE is helping to build is largely accepting of gun violence toward children, not to mention many others.

      Not according to Kirk. This is the exact kind of violence Kirk themselves advocated for as being “acceptable”.

      So in a sense his activism was “complete”, in that he was rewarded with precisely the kind of thing he spent literally decades arguing should be the case.

      This fucker was lying about trans people, saying they are more likely than white men to commit mass shootings, right before he was shot.

      He was perpetrating politcal violence against a marginalized minority when political violence silenced him. I don’t think this is a good situation (overall as a nation and a society) but this is very much a live by the sword die by the sword moment.

      I don’t abhor it. It’s the only language some people understand and we’ve been placated and lied to since forever that “it doesn’t solve anything”

      Hard disagree. We have plenty of gun regulation. Too much, in fact.

      And Trump just said he wants to disarm all Trans folks, so they’re all easier to victimize because of one person. You want more of that? You know who else was in favor of gun control? That’s right.

      What we need more than “actual gun regulation” is “actual universal healthcare including mental healthcare”.

      You know already, I’m sure, that most gun deaths in the USA each year are from suicide. (gunviolencearchive.org)

      Imagine if you gave a shit about that statistic. Now keep imagining that either or both political parties did too. (Stop laughing!) Because however hard you ban guns, all those people still want to die. Imagine fixing that, instead of worrying about whether or not honest people deserve to be able to defend themselves. (Because as it turns out, murderers don’t care about the law, google Abe Japan for an example of that.)

      Too convenient? It’s an assassination attempt, of course it’s convenient, it’s deliberate.

      We just don’t know what the exact motive was, or if there even was one. There’s a lot of information we’re missing.

        Yes. I’m aware. I’m saying the shot timing based on what he was talking about literally right then. Was the whole thing/talk about shootings? Was it a very crazy coincidence? Was the asker and shooter a plant?

        We will find out in time. It’s just very weird timing.

          We’re going to see a lot more of this kind of thing, and a lot of it has roots in the idea that Garland and the SC threw away Rule Of Law and decided that political agendas are above the law and that the social contract no longer matters.

          More and more people, groups and institutions are going to decide that they can interpret and enforce whatever laws they want to see.

          I don’t think he was considered a disposable pawn. This was the sort of shot that’s hard to interpret as a plant.

          He may have been killed by the right. But honestly someone is going down for this regardless of if it’s the person who shot him. And if the person going down dies before trial they’re likely going to have evidence they’re trans planted if need be.

          Much like the reichstag fire they don’t need to fake an incident, they just have to keep twisting the screws and never let a good tragedy go to waste.

      That’s not even true. The reason for the second amendment is clearly spelled out in the amendment itself. The part that everyone seems to ignore.

      A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State…

      It was intended as a way for us to have an army available on sort notice without having to maintain a standing army.

        Thank you. Finally another person saying this. I try to point this out any time this lie is spread, but it’s so common now most people assume it’s true. They do t even bother reading it and trying to interpret it for themselves. It’s really clear, even today. Given the context of the time, it’s even more clear. Standing armies weren’t common, and the new nation was poor and definitely didn’t expect to be able to have one. It relied on militias for defence.

          And there was the whole states vs federal thing going on. They didn’t want the Federal gov’t to have a standing military for reasons. They gave up on that pretty quickly, too bad they didn’t go back and clarify their stance, but how would they know their offspring would be so fucking stupid.

      Well I saw the actual footage on Reddit in the Charlie subreddit but it has since been privated/privatized/made private… whatever it’s called. You can’t see it unless you were in the subreddit.

    I saw an unironic comment on one of the outlets reporting the shooting, and it was “All the liberal violence has got to end”.

    I mean…WTAF? No one even knows who the shooter is yet, do they? And how many instances are there of liberal violence?

    I bet that same dipstick thinks that J6, the Proud Boys, The 3%ers, the Oathkeepers, and all the other right-wing domestic terrorist groups, are all fine, too…
