It feels awesome to make your own custom cables. Especially to get it the exact size you want. What isn’t awesome is trying to debug an intermittent problem due to a faulty cable that sometimes works. My advice if you’re making one or two go for it. If you need 10 just buy them. They are always better cables and so much less time consuming.

This does not include wiring your house with jacks. Those punch downs are pretty full proof and you can’t even honestly buy that premade.

Or just give all your money away to poor people. By my calculations that would be about $25k per poor adult.

I actually find the answer incredibly funny and witty. I could see myself saying what he said but in an entirely sarcastic and mocking tone, basically making fun of that whole super macho male stereotype. Had a woman responded to me that way, I would have been smitten.

This is just stupid and cruel. It serves no purpose. I would love to think the people responsible will get their comeuppance but I know it won’t happen.

Not to sound like a tankie but China has made smarter decisions with regard to power generation. The current shift away from renewables (and shift back to fossil fuel) AND more reliance on central power generation are great for billionaires but just dumb for every other reason. And with the what appears to be advancing in battery technology more distributed solar cells with local storage would free up more power for the power hungry data centers. Not to mention the AI programs there are not run by douchebags like Sam Altman and Mustafa Suleyman.

I also think the current path of AGI study via more advanced LLM research is the wrong path. A language generator is never going to be “smart”. But what do I know, I don’t have billions of dollars and lie constantly.

And if they don’t put some guardrails with some serious teeth and consequences to fix all of things most politicians generally followed in good faith it’s just gonna happen again. I’m seriously starting to believe the American experiment is over. Late stage capitalism, tribalism, and any appearance of empathy have killed it.

And anytime a wall looked a little weird I’d be trying to smash through it.
