exactly, even on reddit everyone knew it was schumer orchestrating it, as if he was against the shutdown from the beginning, and suddenly “he performatively opposes it” as to not catch flack. everyone knows how susan collins murowski does it too, same thing.

and yet Lemmy keeps slobbering over the Democrats as if they can do no wrong. While also dismissing the idea of third parties.

This shit is gonna keep happening until people finally stop voting democrat. It’s the only thing that will change the course.

I dont think we’ve been reading the same Lemmy, everyone on here hates democrats and they hate republicans even more.

Reality is if you want to slow down facism you have to vote demovlcrat currently. If you want to stop it altogether you need to run for office yourself.

on dbzer0 they def have a lot of people who hate dems, but the rest of Lemmy is very much pro-democrats. Sure, they’re mad about this vote, but most comms on Lemmy used to legit ban people who talked shit about the democrats last year. lol

They are starting to be more pissed now, but they are still very much “Vote Blue no matter who.”

Oh they are MAD at democrats, they don’t hate them. If they hated them, they’d push for third party. Most of lemmy is very anti-third party. It’s getting better and they are starting to come around now, but before the election, if you mentioned third party, then Lemmy accused you of being a russian spy. lmao

I dont hate the idea of a third party, I just dont think its possible in the current political system. To have a third party you have to change the way voting works. That means you gotta get the people that have the power to change it to change it. Thats why they object to voting third party. And frankly, right now, until the system changes, a third party will never get traction. You need democrats who want third parties to work their way up through the system and change it.

To have a third party you have to change the way voting works. …a third party will never get traction.

Nah, people say that to make you not wanna vote third party. If everyone voted third party, then we’d have a viable third party.

You don’t think a third party would get traction of everyone voted for it? Trust me, it’d get traction. People need to stop thinking it can’t happen, or it will never happen. That’s how you got Trump, by the way. Look at all the people who didn’t even vote. Imaging if they would have voted third party. The numbers would prove that third parties are viable.

Dude, you gotta face it. People are afraid to take a risk. Every fucking election it’s: “Oh sure, third parties would be awesome. But not THIS election. THIS election is too important. Next time!”

              Every. Fucking. Election.

You keep on being afraid and scratching your head. I’ll keep laughing at how the duopoly is failing you. :)

You have 2 parties. You literally can’t see what’s happening.

You don’t have that luxury of a third party. That’s a dead end idea atm

Despite this shutdown Dems are still better choice. Unless you can outvote both Dems and Republicans, you don’t have much fucking choice.

Here is your bitter pill. Swallow it. Dems are still better than Republicans.

But you do need to hold them accountable at the ballot box. When they do this shit to you, you replace them asap. Protest the ones who are doing this.

But it’s still better than Maga and the GOP

Fix your damn country, it’s infecting everyone else

I DO have the luxury of a third party. I voted third party. In fact, people like you saying shit like that, is exactly why third parties don’t take a strong hold. Because people are afraid.

Dude, if every person who had to hold their nose to vote democrate, actually picked third party, then it’d be an better option. But they don’t because people like you scare them.

I’m not scared of you though. I proudly voted third party, and I’ll proudly vote third party again. You don’t scare me. The Repubs don’t scare me. The Dems don’t scare me.

I’m actually laughing at the people who voted dem, voted repub, and at the peopel who didn’t vote. I did my part. :)

I’ll never ever vote for the democrats. Ever. They are just the republican party in disguise and they have people like you sooo fooled. lol

And if you don’t like our country, then you don’t have to deal with us. Tell your country to ignore us. Do you your own thing. You don’t need us. :)

You can’t even get more than 30% of people to vote (or whatever the unhinged low percent is)

Tanks three head out of your ass if the Republicans don’t scare you.

Look at what they have already done in less than a year. Less than a year!

What the ever loving hell is wrong with you people!

Yes know what nevermind. Just keep voting against your own self worth.

How many times has your third party win the election. Zero times? It’s exactly zero times there has been a president that wasn’t either a Republican or a Democrat in the last 150+ years (since Lincoln/Johnson)

So much less than you’d expect. I read a report years ago about John Deere lobbyists buying off senators and representatives about the “Right To Repair” bills that were defeated at the time.

The lowest payout was $500. Not $5,000. $500. That was given to something like 4 representatives. The highest payout was to the Senator from New York or Massachusetts for $250,000. The mean payout ended up being $15,000 to a total of something like 44 to 64 representatives and senators.

In this case I would expect the mean payout to be $50,000 because a couple of them took way too little and caved.

Cowards trying to save face for their constituents, get empty promises from Republicans to undo damages that they did, and to hold a vote on the very thing they already refused to negotiate on when the Dems actually had leverage with the shut down. Except Fetterman; he’s not saving face, he’s just a fucking sociopath that’s inches from crossing the aisle at all times. The rest negotiated with terrorists and now they’re going to reap what that has sown and bring us all along for the ride. Get fucked all 8 of you (but particularly you, Fetterman. Eat shit).
