Because if they don’t he’ll sue them for being very unfair, and then he’ll get the stadium named after him and a $300 million dollar cheque. He owns the judicial branch and unlike every other president before him he is willing to use it as a tool for his petty revenge. Turns out that every other president actually believed in a higher power then themselves, be it God or country. Donald doesn’t believe in anything.

Was at a bar watching NFL with the bros when they kept showing his fucking face.

We tried to ignore it at first but they just kept showing it.

We started loudly booing. At one point I shouted “WHY AM I BEING FORCED TO STARE AT A FELON RAPIST JUST TO WATCH FOOTBALL?”

This bar is in California, but I guarantee some conservatives were there. Too bad. They’re filth and are putting felons and rapists on television during football games. I don’t give a fuck if it hurts their feeling for me to say this shit in a public space. Decorum goes out the window when you’re forcing sports fans to sit and listen to a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, and insurrectionist.

The NFL is getting pretty fucking gross. Just in the last few weeks they’ve put a felon rapist on the air, one of their ex-quarterbacks stabbed an old man, and a new player ran from the cops and then blew his brains out.

The fuck is going on with that organization?

The fuck is going on with that organization?

My two-cents on the matter: The NFL’s relationship with problematic decisions and/or optics, have been a thing for a long time now.

      • Military flyovers1
      • Strictly IMO: player “draft” process resembles an auction
      • Predominantly black player base with white team ownership
      • “Redskins” as a team name for far longer than the public felt it acceptable
      • Entire league suffering from concussions2, life-altering injuries after retirement
      • History of team owners doing all kinds of problematic stuff, but keeping their jobs regardless

      1. My problem here is that we’re talking commercial sports, an institution one could feasibly use as a refuge from politics. But we add rah-rah military back in, opening the door for nationalism, because screw all that.
      2. There are lawsuits out regarding a possible cover-up (going back a long time) by the league in this area, as highlighted in recent news.

This is why we shouldn’t have any monopolies on any sport. NFL is only big thing for Football, etc

I feel like the problems you listed with the NFL have always been there, you may have just glazed over them since it only involved the organization and players\coaches and not a president.

My Dad had season tickets for an NFL team for 25 years, and we went to a LOT of games together. Then the team suddenly moved, and it was heart-breaking. We got another team, but it wasn’t the same.

In the late-90s, I started my own company, and since I had to carve a lot of time out of my life, I gave up sports once and for all. I haven’t watched an entire game of any sport in over 25 years, and I haven’t missed it.

My only major sports indulgence today is the Olympics.

Thanks for the story. I played football in highschool but the adoption and amplification of jingoist bullshit in the 90s removed any interest I had in it.

          Curious: Cardinals and Rams?

Hah, gotcha! It was the Cleveland Browns. I don’t even care about sports any more but I still hate the Ravens and Bill Bellichek, who turned out to be even more of a massive dickhead than we always thought.

Yeah, a big part of why I was able to stay away was because of the whole commercial circus around pro sports. Now they have to have big parties for the drafts, etc. It’s gross.

And frankly, the REAL reason sports is so big these days is because of gambling. The wealthy want to get your money any way they can, so now they have us betting on the Circuses part of the Bread & Circuses.

They market strongest to young men, hoping to turn them into gambling addicts when they are young, so they can waste their lives throwing away any disposable income they encounter.

They’re also working on figuring out a way to get us to pay some exorbitant price for the Bread part.

            Rich motherfuckers ruin everything.

Trump is too stupid to even know what the Aryan Fist is. My guess is he thinks he’s being iconic by mimicking the gesture he made when he was “shot” during the campaign. Which makes me all the more convinced that the entire thing was an act since everything Conservatives do is completely performative.

Probably not wrong. He might know it as “the white power fist” which is the more common phrase in the US afaik.

My guess is he thinks he’s being iconic by mimicking the gesture he made when he was “shot” during the campaign.

          I could see that too.

Which makes me all the more convinced that the entire thing was an act since everything Conservatives do is completely performative.

It’s sort of amusing that the profound psychological issues that make him the most corrupt POTUS in history, the most self-absorbed POTUS in history, the most dishonest POTUS in history and the most deranged POTUS in history also make him the most tone-deaf POTUS in history.

        Yeah, but no.

Just look at how the accounts of nazi generals shaped the way historians understood the war of Nazi Germany against the Soviet Union. All the myths, like the clean Wehrmacht or that the soviets just overwhelmed the nazis with superior numbers and no tactic, strategy or logistics at all was coined, popularized and published by nazi generals. And these guys are one of the most famous losers in history.

History is only written by the winners when the winners benefit their civilization.

When, as has consistently happened in the latter days of past civilizations and as will be the case if Trump and the oligarchs and their fascist tools win, the winners solely benefit themselves and thus ultimately destroy their civilization, history is written by third parties.

The CCP is guilty of some absolutely heinous things but high-level they do a lot of building and investing. It’s a lot of headline stuff but it’s better than what the US is doing. The US can’t even build public transit within most of its major cities and each state is constantly fighting with the other ones. The people in charge enrich themselves not quietly but as loud as possible.

China sucks, but they do have at least a small point.

I can’t find a longer video than what’s in the article. It’s pretty harsh. I had to check since sometimes it’s not as bad as they say. What is he reading?

Edit: I had to do the thing, it’s in the article:

The jeers came down even harder when Trump, flanked by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, read out the military Oath of Enlistment to swear in new troops.
