The fuck guys…you’ll try everything but actually fixing the problem.
because fixing a problem in the United States won’t line anyones pockets with dollar bills.
Someone saw a problem, figured HOW to financially gain from said problem, not solve the problem in order to financially gain from it. So some company has scored a contract to patrol schools with drones in order to “prevent” school shootings and we know they won’t and the US tax payer will pay for it.
Problems in the United States are never fixed, they’re handled.
The only way it will be fixed is when people stop going after random public school kids and start going after the rich.
Many of us are trying to leave as quickly as possible. You can’t fix a society of deeply fucking stupid as this one has become.
No wait, they got thought listening devices! What if they set them up in schools to listen to everyone’s thoughts! Everyone would be safe because you can listen to all teenager’s thoughts!
OK let’s start…listening to the guy over there… Wow! Jessica has tits! …hmmm okay moving on to another kid’s thoughts…
Oh shit, nevermind! Nevermind!
these drones are gonna end up killing unarmed kids.
The US government loooves to kill unarmed kids
Right? We’re gonna use drones to kill unarmed kids, without the expense of having to ship stuff to a different country. It’s like a 60% off coupon for your favorite hobby, Uncle Sam is creaming himself in anticipation.
They shoot pepper balls.
Having said that, they might get kids killed when they’re trying to hide from a gunman but can’t stop coughing because the room is filled with pepperball dust.
It’s funny how much they do just to circumvent gun control.

Some of these jackasses are so brainwashed they’re still worried about the thing the masters told them to worry about for decades.
this could only be stupider if they said AI would be used to deploy the drones
the drones were equipped with pepper rounds plus a glass breaker
That’s still terrible to be at a school but I bet it would be a hell of a lot of fun to play around with. Like aerial battle bots.
How is there not a drone version of battle bots yet
Aerial combat vehicles don’t take hit that well.
I bet they look cool when they do though
Rapid unscheduled disassembly while in operation is definitely something people like to watch especially if it has an energetic catalyst.
But it would most likely just end in both aerial vehicles being unable to take flight without repairs, after very few hits if they are still in the air after the first.
LOL they’re using the DJI Video system on those drones. The antennas are DJI.
And that is the absolute worst thing they could have used. DJIs wall penetration sucks ass and since schools are typically built sturdier than regular houses, they’ll have 2 rooms of nice image that turn into a blocky Minecraft mess right after. They should have gone with a high power analog system since that would give the best wall penetration.
Also, they only recently allowed BVLOS flights in the USA - might be for these things only.
To add to that: those drones can be hacked, but only if you press the WiFi button on the drone itself, since it deactivates that when powered on normally; or if you connect it via USB. Also, if they control it via remote - the DJI remote is worse than ELRS. A 868 ELRS module would be better penetration wise but worse for latency. You can’t hack ELRS remotely, since they are secured via passphrase. If your passphrase is “I don’t like where this is going”, you need to install that on the drone and the controller. Any drone with that phrase can be controlled with any controller using that phrase.
Also, the drone in the picture is likely a 3“ cinewhoop. Those are made for lift, not for speed. But even then, the maximum weight of one of those would be 1200 grams. Looking at the pictures, 600 grams could be the battery and about 200 the drone, that leaves 400 grams for deadly things.
Lol wasn’t that like a I did a thing video?
I was always terrified of Robocop when I was a kid. What a strange world we live in…
Hacks drone, oops. Let’s stick with metal detectors and guards
This is such a tricky subject.
You could go with a more strict gun regulations. Coupled with more help for vulnerable people. And free mental healthcare.
Or.
MUTHERFUDGING DRONES, bitches. It’s such a tricky subject. So tricky.
This isn’t tik tok you can say Motherfucking.
In fact I’d prefer if people just used the actual cuss words. Self-censoring is such a bullshit. Social media is a plague on our species.
or: kill the cop in your head.
I need more things to have a block censorship option. Like streaming music services often have a ‘block explicit’ option. I want a ‘block censored’ option.
YouTube has a thing where if you’re on data and not wifi, they will not let you watch explicit videos even if you’re signed into your account, which may or may not be old enough to drink, itself.
You have to do a thing in your phone’s connection settings and hook it to a specific DNS (like “dns.adguard.com”, which allows you to play mobile games while connected to a network without any ads)
Why are you lying online?
It is a plague but not because you can’t swear.
man I made an account just to go troll idiots and holy shit is their moderation ever so fucking bad
people can say “I would drive over them” about people crossing a bridge, but if you say, “I’d drive over you tbh”, nope, not okay.
not to mention the dumb automatic word filters regardless of context
Ploppers
do we have to have this same argument every godsdamned thread?
Argument? Nah. Just trying to help someone who seems to need help in forcefully expressing themselves.
just, i’m tired boss. no one likes being the language police, no one like being language policed. just let people talk.
but which of those options will make more money for the people in charge?
Are the drones flown by AI? …looks like there’s even more money to be made!
🤢
You could go with a more strict gun regulations. Coupled with more help for vulnerable people. And free mental healthcare.
I’m skeptical any of this would be more than a bandaid solution, a large part of the problem has got to be how highschool in the US is just inherently a miserably dehumanizing experience.
Do not accept perfection as an enemy of progress!
If “progress” here means drugging students to tolerate their circumstances, or holding the threat of pepper spray drones over them (doubt this will stay limited to active shooter scenarios), I think it might be progress in the wrong direction.
I’m pretty sure they meant that the gun regulation, help and free healthcare would be progress, not so much the drugs and the drones.
I guess that makes sense. It just frustrates me that the scope of the discussion is all solutions that would not help directly with any problems potentially murderously suicidal teens have in their lives, the growth of those problems which you might imagine is the reason this has become a trend, but instead basically just preventing them from responding destructively.
You’re right there. Yes.
The drones, stored in secure boxes on campus, can be deployed within five seconds of silent panic buttons being activated. The devices—operated remotely by a team in Texas—provide constant live video feeds to first responders and, in some cases, fire nonlethal projectiles to delay or incapacitate an assailant.
To me, these aren’t a bad idea. Immediate response and non-ISH-lethal. They are simply the progression of enforcement technology.
What they are not, is a solution to school shootings. They are not even a bandaid. Some people (law makers) just don’t seem to know what “prevention” means.
You said
To me, these aren’t a bad idea.
and yet you also said

in the very same post.
I wouldn’t want some bored trigger happy gun nutjob from Texas playing shoot the bad guys with pepper spray on a games console where my kids and their multi ethnic friends are the NPCs.
That’s a fair assessment. I’m guessing it’s that way because that’s where the company that operates this is. Which, now that I think about it, probably is a poor way to manage the whole program.
So I’ll post-edit to say: “with local pilot and oversight”
nonlethalless lethalUnderstandable, common typo in MY GUNS! land.
stored in secure boxes on campus, can be deployed within five seconds of silent panic buttons being activated
So much about that sentence doesn’t make sense though…
“secure boxes” but “a button can open them” also “silent panic” with “drones out within 5 seconds”
In any event, the ‘nonlethal’ is generally considered a bad descriptor versus ‘less than lethal’, unless they are talking about something merely mildly annoying rather than the usual things like rubber or bag rounds.
I am an OCP stockholder.
Didn’t expect to see a Robocop meme today, but I’m all about it!
Hail Hydra?
America will do literally anything to ignore gun control and mental health.
These things are going to get hacked and start shooting kids. Wtf are these idiots thinking.
Probably “this is a completely untapped market for our killbots!”
Here’s hoping it was all fraud and no drones ever are actually deployed.
Realistically its probably a ploy for peter thiel to find new blood boys to kidnap.
The measurement unit is what got me
“It’s a bit like that movie The Matrix, where the agent can jump into the nearest person and immediately be good to go. We’re a little bit like that—but we’re the good guys,”
At last, zero self awareness, wow.
I’m sure this won’t have a impact on mental health
US: Mental health issue? Here, take a bullet.
