I remember watching duck tales and I used to find the idea of having enough money to swim in it fascinating when Scrooge McDuck would dive into his vault of gold, but looking at it from an adult perspective it is super weird that Scrooge was depicted as one of the good guys, and all the evil people are trying to get into his vault to steal his money. Like he could change the lives of so many people with that money and instead he just hoards it all to swim in it and we are supposed to root form him

On second look he’s supposed to be peering over the wealth like a dragon.

But my first thought was “why is he fucking the money pile???”

No all his wealth and property seize the means of production liquidate the wealth of the bourgeois don’t just tax them an arbitrary amount and let them keep the rest of their blood money never mind enforcement problems.

I like the idea of having a maximum wealth. Once your assets are worth X amount, you can’t have any more.

Just make tax exponential (so your netto is a log function of your brutto). Wouldn’t have a hard “maximum” but effectively be impossible to have many times income of others (without paying unimaginable more taxes than everyone else). The hardest part is probably to handle “wealth” because that can be parked and “hidden” in so many different ways.

That’s income tax, not wealth tax. Once you get rich enough, they’re not really related anymore.

    Smaug Bezos

I wish the father had expanded on why people shouldn’t strive to be dragons. Maybe explain the value of being a sharing member of a community, as opposed to a hoarding sociopath.

A bit harsh, let’s melt the gold so it’s a softer impact… What’s the melting temperature of gold again?
