No, in terms of proximate causes, failure to perform harm reduction did that.

If you wanted to actually fix the Democrats’ neoliberal bullshit, the time for that was in 2021-early 2024, not fucking October! Screeching about third-parties in October was purely pro-fascist concern trolling.

Okay, let me spell it out, yet again, since people still apparently don’t get it: making a tactical decision to avoid expressing criticism during an election is not the same thing as being perfectly happy with what the party is doing. It’s harm reduction, not agreement.

  • Environmental scientists have been telling us that it’s too late for years.

Why are you lying? Environmental scientists have been telling us exactly the opposite of that: that it’s incredibly important to not think it’s “too late” and give up because, no matter how bad it’s already gotten due to our previous failure to act, it will still get continuously worse as long as we continue to fail.

There is no bottom; only continual escalation of suffering until we finally get our shit together. The sooner we do it, the less we suffer.

I got the same thing in the form of an email, with cutesy alternating speech bubbles so each line was presented as alternating between which one of them was saying it:

    Hi, Tim Walz here.

    Kamala too.

    Together again.

Because there is something happening in Washington, D.C. that you need to know about.

As you read this, Donald Trump and his Republican Party are trying to pass massive tax breaks that will benefit the wealthiest people and corporations in the country.

Paid for by cutting programs people need to survive – programs like Medicaid, nutrition assistance, and even veterans health care.

It was all part of Project 2025. The project they denied over and over again.

    And now it’s happening.

So we’re asking Democrats everywhere to make their voices heard to stop the cuts to these lifesaving programs.

The Democratic National Committee is leading that effort, but they can’t do it alone.

The DNC is also working tirelessly to flip the House and the Senate in the next election so we can have a check on Trump in Congress.

That’s why we’re here, once again, asking:

Can you please use this link to make a contribution to the Democratic National Committee? Their average online donation is around $50. Many give more. Some give less. All that matters is lots and lots of people are donating to stop Trump and the Republicans from hurting millions of Americans just to fund tax cuts for the rich.

If everyone reading this chipped in even just a few bucks, the DNC would have the resources they need to get it done.

    But not everyone does.

So we’re counting on those who understand how important this moment is – and how important a strong Democratic Party is – to help out today.

TL;DR: they’re talking about policy and fundraising and elections as if this shit is business as usual and not American democracy itself being destroyed right in front of their smarmy out-of-touch faces. I already expressed my reaction once here on Lemmy, but I’ll reiterate that it’s fucking infuriating how absolutely goddamn useless they are.
