Honestly, depending on your ethnicity or where you live, touring as a musician in the U.S. these days seems difficult because of that for you and your fans. I don’t get why anyone overseas would want to tour in the U.S. right now.

I don’t get why anyone from overseas would come to the US right now. They can just randomly decide today’s your day and throw you in prison in Louisiana for no reason at all.

It’s not even that. They are demanding to go through visitor’s phones, and denying entry if they’ve criticized Trump on social media.

Imagine you’ve saved for a few years for a big trip to America, bought plane and theme parks tickets, put down deposits on lodging, pre-paid for car rentals, arrange for time off for everyone in the group, etc., only to get turned away at the border because you said something negative about the worst president in American history.

There are an infinite number of places in the world to visit that will be just as fun and relaxing. No need to go to the one place that won’t welcome you and your money.

It shouldn’t but in America you can be detained for less. And my ethnicity makes me worried if I was ever detained so yeah, Americans need to realize the reality shift in this fascist landscape. It might not affect you but MANY of us have cause for concern.

It’s completely and utterly anti-american to be forced to have that mindset.

Whoever would cause that mindset is the active enemy of every single citizen.

Trump couldn’t even answer a reporter’s basic questions about the Declaration of Independence. He certainly wouldn’t understand the concept that God himself endowed ALL people with Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness - three things that MAGAs despise.

The problem is that the determination that you are a good person or not, is being made by very bad people. Your characterization of yourself as “good” is irrelevant.

Just minor clarification: being born in Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny is a US citizen and (theoretically) wouldn’t need to fear being deported, but some of his fans might.

But given that ICE is just straight up targeting brown people and holding them indefinitely regardless of legal status or citizenship, it’s still too great a risk to do anything in the US.

I’ve literally seen border control agents in the airport not know that PR means US Citizen right in front of me. And ICE actively boasts about deporting people to random countries completely unrelated to the person being deported. Reality isn’t going to stop them.

He probably also has band and crew members from countries other than PR as well, so he has to worry about them, too. Also, it can’t be easy to coordinate visas for all those people right now. I’ll bet the resistance for a tour like that would be high.

And you are right about being fraudulently detained. He may be a US citizen, but they’ll still hate him for being brown. The Puerto Rican Loophole surely pisses them off. It would be just like the MAGA Nazis to fraudulently detain, and even deport, key personnel, just to fuck up the tour, and cost him millions.

In addition to being an insanely popular musician he’s also been in several WWE matches (and actually did great,) has been on SNL, and played the waiter-turned-caddy in Happy Gilmore 2 in a guest spot. So he’s pretty well known. Not to be aggro or suggest that’s the creme de la creme of celebrity, just to let you know the level he operates on. He’s pretty well recognized at a glance to a lot of people.

My sister in law last year accused me of being a misogynist because I don’t like Taylor Swift’s music. She argued that since Swift is the most-downloaded artist ever on Spotify, that means she is objectively the greatest singer-songwriter in history and the only reason I could possibly dislike her music is that I don’t like women. I suggested that she must be racist because she doesn’t like Kanye West and Bad Bunny (who are the second- and third-most downloaded or thereabouts artists on Spotify) and she was like “who is Bad Bunny?”

I used to work in record stores back in the olden days, and didn’t notice that one of the regular customers only bought albums by female artists. So one day he was buying an album, and I suggested a new release by a male artist, and he INSTANTLY got really angry.

“Are you calling me a faggot? You think I’m gay?”

I was completely confused, not understanding what was happening, if this was joke, whatever. I just said, “No, I just thought you’d be interested. It’s a big album, it’s already our top seller…”

“Only a faggot would listen to a male singer, and I’m no faggot, understand?” And he stormed out.

He’d always been a nice guy, and I’d never heard his opinion on listening to singers of the same sex before, but they were VERY strong opinions. When he left, I was convinced that he was gay, and terrified someone would figure it out.

I met someone opposite. I told a guy about all the bands and solo artists I like, plenty of whom are women, and he suggested that once I’m in a long-term relationship I won’t want to listen to women anymore.

I errrr… think that when it comes to women musicians the fella mostly enjoyed the music videos. X_X Or perhaps they made him feel less “alone” or something. He was defo not there just for the music

You have 6 comments in a thread with 36 responses. None of yours are on topic, some of them are quite offensive.

Here is an example of a different person in the same thread who also didn’t know who the artist was. They somehow managed to be on topic and illicit positive replies.

Yes, it’s a forum for people to talk and ask questions. But you’ve gotta realise that there’s a right and a wrong way to go about it. If you’re gonna post something useless that can easily be answered by typing the name in a search bar, the least you can do is be nice about it.

The question was answered in the headline. He’s obviously a musical artist of a big enough stature that he has an international tour, and it’s skipping America.

That’s the answer to your question. If you want to know more, you should try a search engine called Google, since you probably haven’t heard of that either.
