President Donald Trump says he has ordered the justice department to produce additional documents related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval,” he said.

It’s unclear if Trump is authorising the public release of these documents. Such action would typically require court approval.

Yeah Bondi, slap together some more doctored BS to tell whatever story you need to tell. Maybe more “raw unedited footage” pasted together and missing 3 minutes.

Sounds like the Dumbass-in-Chief wants that twat to throw together a list of names and claim it’s the Epstein list. Bet all the names will be Democrats.

I don’t think there is a more direct way of saying “you want epstein files? Fine I will produce some fake files and release them. You will eat those files like eating shit all the while knowing they are fake, because that is what you are. You are my little shit eaters.”

Anyone that already hates Trump isn’t distracted by this. If anything it’s only making people that voted for him become more suspicious of him and take criticism of him more seriously.

This isn’t a distraction. This is Trump absolutely failing to control the narrative with his base for the first real time.

Because even MAGA voters are ok with burning down the government if it’s true that our two party system and the billionaires they work for are literally protecting pedophiles. Which I don’t think many people doubt at this point.

MAGA just had the delusions that somehow the sex pest billionaire was on their side.

This distraction rhetoric is fucking stupid. They are doing a lot of bad things at the same time so you cant focus on all of it at once. they don’t care what you’re focusing on just that not everyone is focused on the same things so a group is harder to form. It’s why we (the left) need to keep hitting on the list. It’s clearly a weak point and there is blood in the water so we need to keep pushing. There are some MAGA that are waking up because of this.

I see your point, but it still feels like press bait to me. Is there any way what gets released can be verified to be authentic? I have seen one or two MAGA supporters speaking out over it, but I have serious doubts they won’t return after a trivial capitulation like this. What I’d love to see is engagement from people who didn’t vote, I want to see protest crowds getting bigger. I understand your frustration, but I think it’s valid to try to absorb the other news as well.

I don’t disagree with trying to absorb other things that wasn’t what was intended sorry if it came off that way.

I think I a piece piece of evidence is that the right wing news orgs are still talking about it after they were told to stop. Their own audiences turned against them enough that they have to keep talking about it. I forget who said it but one said that they trust the people in the white house to take care of it and his own comments dragged him for it.

There are also some people I know personally that have genuinely been shook by this.

I guess it doesn’t really need to be something worse – they have full control over the narrative, and the WH clearly won’t actually release anything meaningful, so keeping it in the news is a huge attention magnet with practically no downside. Maybe an extra week of all other news getting buried is worth it. Maybe it’s a favor to that CEO who got caught cheating at a Coldplay concert. I get the impression that when he does something weirdly out-of-character it’s a misdirection, so I’ll look at page two of the news for awhile.

    The key word is pertinent:

    Pertinent

    n. Anything that doesn’t portray Trump in a bad light while simultaneously harming his perceived foes, as determined by Donald J. Trump and/or Pam Bondi at the formers discretion.

Plus, the Grand Jury testimony is only a small fraction of the ‘files’

Because “flood the zone” is an incredibly effective tactic against Americans who can’t stay focused on something longer than one day. Each time something horrific comes out in the news they can just tell people to look at Trump’s ankles instead. Oh and then we get a very professional doctor’s opinion that Trump is the greatest, healthiest president we’ve ever had with the physique of a college athlete.

I hate to say this, but Epstein/Trump stories feel like the real distraction. It’s long been known that Trump is connected with Epstein, that he’s a certified sex pest, and that he’s creepy about kids (including his own daughter). It’s been default knowledge that Trump is a pedo creep, yet people seem to think that even smoking gun evidence will make some sort of difference.

Almost nobody will seriously change where that stand based on anything that could possibly revealed. On the other hand, the economy is in shambles, the government in shreds, and there are actual fucking concentration camps that people are getting disappeared to.

There is too much horror in the moment for me to fret so much about these horrors from the past. Epstein will not harm anyone else, but unknown high level child sex rings will. Everyone around Epstein getting revealed will not bring retribution to many culprits, nor will it change the root causes of such unaccountable abuse.

I could see it being a distraction but also feel like this should just be added to the growing list of things people should not let go as midterms approach and the administration tries to redirect the narrative of reality. Don’t let them.

Its a lot to keep up with, but in no particular order, as a direct result of this administration and Republicans in the House and Senate:

•Rich pedophiles are now an officially protected species

•Trump tried to insult and neg his own supporters into dropping the Epstein list

•Economy is in shambles and projected to get worse

•Over 100 Americans suddenly dead in Texas due to severe flooding and cuts to warning systems that were in place until Trump took office (Republicans are seriously trying to blame this on “weather manipulation”). Similar disasters very likely to follow.

•After other disasters in other loyalist red states, emergency funding was withheld or delayed due to a lack of coordination between the white house and FEMA (with Trump’s own pick leading things, last I heard he was on vacation and MIA following the TX floods)

•Energy grids and local water supplies are being strained all over the country by the very stupid and very expensive AI data factories being rolled out across the U.S.

•Giant Palantir surveillance database being created to keep tabs on all Americans. Don’t forget that over the last 6 months: -ICE has been given the greenlight to break down doors without a warrant -Trump openly admitting he’s not sure he has to follow due process -Trump dismantling the office of Human Rights and Civil Liberties that was created as a direct result of government overreach on behalf of the patriot act -There’s a very fine line between what Trump can do to handle immigration and what he can do to any and all American citizens in the name of “domestic safety.” That office was in charge of ensuring that line didn’t get crossed, and if it did ensuring there would at least be documentation about it available through FOIA.

•Trump knew about Netenyahu’s planned bombing of Iran, publicly lied about it, said he didn’t want a war with Iran, but then randomly just decided to start kicking the hornet’s nest

•Millions of Americans are losing their healthcare (in particular rural Americans and Trump’s own voters are being hit especially hard by this) in order to provide tax cuts to wealthy elite

•Even the ultraconservative Cato institute has criticized Trump’s planned spending on immigration laid out in the BBB (over $1 trillion dollars on deportation spending seems a kinda ridiculous when you can’t find the budget for Americans to have Medicaid)

There’s more, but just a few things off the top of my head.

It doesn’t hurt so long as we don’t expect it to have much effect. I also don’t think the midterms will make a difference, even if Republicans lose every possible seat in an absolute blowout. We’re in a dictatorship 6 that’s featuring domestic death camps 6 months in; violence against opposition is not unimaginable.
