In the wake of The New York Times’ report last month on the Trump administration’s redistricting efforts in Texas, more details have emerged about the attempt to pressure the state’s leaders into a potentially unlawful — and certainly illiberal — mid-decade redraw of its congressional districts in order to shore up the GOP’s chances in next year’s midterms. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has instructed his state’s Republican-led legislature to craft a redistricting plan this summer, in a move my MSNBC colleague Hayes Brown aptly assessed as a mockery of the Voting Rights Act.

    Gerrymandering is nothing new.

What will set Trump apart is that I’m pretty sure he’ll deploy his ICE private paramilitary in blue states to discourage the “wrong” people from going out to vote, or deploy the military over some made-up emergency or other to cancel the elections altogether.

Why do you think ICE just got $45bn? Yes, that’s BILLIONS. Hell of a budget increase for a mere immigration enforcement agency isn’t it?

What do you think the LA rehearsal was for?

There won’t be fair mid-term elections. Mark my words.

Speaking of, there were bomb threats during the 2024 elections that I’m sure tipped the balance as well.

Man commits about a hundred heinous crimes and becomes leader of a country

Hundreds of people who have committed no crimes or minor crimes get sent to a concentration camp where they’re probably going to die from diseases or hurricanes

      No war but class war.

And the most important part if that is that it isn’t an ideal - it’s a fact. All war is class war and the ruling class is already fighting it, and has been fighting it for decades. And they’re winning by forfeit.

Lawmakers tried to pass election reform/protections during Biden’s term, and they were systematically blocked by Republicans.

The lack of alarm and campaigning around that was exasperating. The Democratic party knew elections would be rigged and still chose to act like things were basically normal.

Which, honestly makes me question the validity of the 2024 election.

Correct. I mean every single swing state? One county in NY with ZERO Kamala votes? Something like 12% bullet ballots in blue counties only when the avg is 1%? Voting machines connected to Starlink?

Stolen election. It’s not just bullshit like 2020. This shit was taken by the billionaire class.

            Blue MAGA nonsense.

I mean every single swing state? Why would it be surprising for all the swing states to swing in one direction? They don’t swing randomly, they usually swing together.

One county in NY with ZERO Kamala votes?

Precinct, not a county. A precinct dominated by an orthodox Jewish community that all vote together. The congregation decided to vote for Trump.

Something like 12% bullet ballots in blue counties only when the avg is 1%?

Trump drives out low-propensity voters, and he’s way more popular than Congressional Republicans generally.

            Voting machines connected to Starlink?

Voting machines aren’t connected to the internet.

Don’t be like Republicans. You’re better than this.

Isn’t there some kind of law against election interference? Isn’t there something that can be done about blatant lawbreakers?

Gerrymandering is a time honored electoral tradition for Republicans.

It’s the system working as conservatives intended.

All that kinda went down the drain with “Russia, if you’re listening.” They’ve forced us to rely on the very voting mechanisms they seek to undermine.

The only legal mechanism for holding power accountable is the vote. Once that’s taken away, you either accept subjugation or you don’t. But the latter isn’t legal and that doesn’t sit right with a lot of folks.

        the latter isn’t legal

And a lot of people don’t want to risk death fighting against professional soldiers, either.
