It’s been a long year, so I may edit to add something else if I think about it, but this Reggie video still has me chuckle thinking about some of the lines from it.

I discovered Shaun this year and binged most of his videos. The War On Science was this year and is great, though 4+ hours is a big commitment… Most of his other stuff is shorter.

For the curious: “War on Science” is a book of essays including Lawrence Kraus (whom “edits” the volume) and Richard Dawkins.

You might think that this book would be about RFKjr or the collapse of US funding for research. No. The ‘war on science’ is when academics are held accountable to woke ideology i.e. being disciplined for having sex with your students. It’s publisher doesn’t usually cover science, mostly selling books about fundamental Christianity.

For those of us who watched the brain-rot of Islamophobia and misogyny take over the skeptic community back in the early 2010s, it’s no surprise that these men turned out to be grifters in bed with fundamentalist Christians over their shared hatred of Muslims and women.

There is so much more to the video. Including specifics about some of the essays and their authors; the Jeffery Epstein connection; and how feminism destroyed the “new atheist” movement.

It’s frankly amazing to go through and become an atheist in the early 2000s based off some of these individuals and their work, forget about them for a few years, then check in years later just to see how absolutely horrible some of these turds turned out. Like holy shit what the fuck is wrong with you.

I’ve truly went in on ARIatHome, a talented musician just randomly running into people in new york and getting them on the mic, looping them in. Lots of great freestyles that come up. He does full livestreams too, on his page.

    Examples:

I just found Fulton Lee who’s got a playful energy version of something similar.

Both of these guys have upped my faith in humanity.

The one where Pewd talks about Linux/Ssh and encourages you to ditch google.

I’m not even a fan by any stretch but famous YouTubers like this educating the masses is great.

This documentary about the Japanese Holocaust on the Chinese. It got demonetized because of the details and unfortunately TIFO has stepped back somewhat from their long form documentaries partly because of it.

And when you’re done crying to that, here’s something a little more light hearted from Jim McKenzie that went under the radar.

He should get points for confidence. “RIGHT THEEEIA”

Something to note is that when the child is asked the rules of the shape game, he is able to correctly identify where the trucks and flowers go. And then he confidently proceeds to sort the cards as if he was still playing the color game. This is typical performance for a 3-year-old, including the part where he gets bored and tries to leave

Recently came across this channel while learning about fluid simulations, and this video is fantastic.

Took me much longer than 10 minutes to understand the concepts, though. I later discovered Matthias is a lead physics researcher at nvidia which is pretty dope :)
