    That’s a fine opinion to have, though I disagree with it. These tarrifs aren’t going to do much to moves things back to the US though. If nothing else, because the tarrifs won’t last long enough to have an effect. It’s likely that most, if not all, of them are illegal and will be struck down in court. But even if they aren’t, the next president is almost certainly going to remove them. It’s too easy of a win for them. Remove them and lower everyone’s expenses.

    It takes years to move things to a new production facility. Companies aren’t going to just suddenly move production at the whim of a president unless they already have a way to accomplish that. Pssst, almost none of them do. They’re going to wait things out.

    If congress actually enacted these tarrifs you’d get way more companies moving back to the US if there are cost savings in the long run. Cause those would very likely be in place a lot longer than a president’s term. The other problem is just jacking tarrifs up 100+% right out of the gate for certain countries. Even if companies want to move, that’s a lot of hurt in the meantime.
