We sit around and bitch about the corporations caving to the alt-Reich, about Congress people just giving in to Trump, about ICE not having a conscience to do the things they do.

Yet as long as we only sit and bitch, as long as we’re not fighting back in some way, we are also complicit in what our country’s government does.

If you honk your horn to warn people ICE is around, you are protecting them. If you protest the regime, others will see that there’s are others standing up and this is not inevitable. If you call your Congress people, you are telling them what the will of the people is, and that people are watching their actions. You don’t have to do everything, but you should be doing something.

How can you expect corporations to care or Congress people to have a spine, if you won’t even pick up a phone? Courage, and consciences, are contagious.

Sorry going out on a Saturday once every couple months isn’t going to do anything either.

      1. Public protests express implicit power.
They are a threat, demonstrating to those in power the magnitude of what is to come.

      2. Public protests increase participation.
They express a promise to current and future participants that they have comrades who will show up, stand beside them, hold the line, and expect the same in return.

      3. Public protests increase organization.
Onsite and post-event recruitment is not only the primary means of increasing participation, it remains the most organic and hard-to-digitally-replicate method of expanding organizational efforts on account of network effects.

      4. Public protests are grounded.
They represent a ground truth condition that anyone can see for themselves. There are numerous effective strategies for obscuring, sandbagging, or sabotaging public campaigns conducted exclusively on digital networks and platforms, but it is next to impossible to conceal public displays of flesh-and-blood human beings collecting en masse.

As far as I’m concerned these are opportunities to find left curious libs and agitate them into joining an organization like DSA or PSL or whatever that is organizing resistance at the local level.

If this is gonna take everyone to turn around then going where the people are to try and organize them is your best bet.

Some of the people who go to these will meet and decided to do something useful

      Hopefully…

Really, No Kings has been coopted by rich Neoliberals who will never ask us to do something impactful with our numbers.
