These are definitely bots and trolls. The right had been funding them from the get-go. Many right wing accounts, including politicians, repeat many talking points almost exactly the same from each other.
Unfortunately I think it’s very possible that it’s not. I had a professor in college that somehow managed to have this many tweets back in 2018 or so. I distinctly remember that it was 96k. She wasn’t a great professor, I’m talking 300 level courses that felt like they could have been taught in high school. Probably on account of spending her entire life on twitter.
Not that I don’t believe you, but I wonder how on earth could these people even type and post that many. I get tired typing a lot on mobile phone or get eye strain after looking at the screen for too long.
I’m also not sure if that number now counts reposts/retweets, though it would still be ridiculous to be retweeting that many posts that consistently. Clicking one button is always going to be quicker than writing even a one-word tweet and posting it, so it would check out.
