I think people should be more willing to protest food waste.

Have you ever been at a convenience gas/fast food place at around 10:15am, only to see the employees throwing away like 40 or so breakfast biscuits, while the customer behind me wanted to purchase one?

I was absolutely fucking disgusted that they wouldn’t sell the lady a breakfast biscuit! The food was still hot, so fucking what if it was technically 15 minutes after breakfast hour. She had the money, ready to purchase, and I was more than glad to let her cut in line in front of me if it meant she could get her breakfast biscuit.

But no, they refused her service, because it was after 10am…

Like what the fuck? Why so much food go to waste? Shit, rather than toss it in the dumpster, maybe they could extend breakfast food hours from 10 to 12 at half price or something, I dunno.

I hate seeing food go to waste, especially when someone is literally right there ready to pay for it… ☹️

      I hate this so much!

I used to work a night shift at a service station and around midnight I was meant to throw everything left away so I could clean everything ready for the next day.

Needless to say, every night between 11pm and midnight was free food giveaway bonanza. Every single person that came in I would offer free food from the selection of stuff we had, on nights where the previous shift had made an excessive amount of food I would literally pile people up with food rather than throw anything away.

The truck drivers would love it as I could load them up with stuff for their nights drive. A few times though I found myself feeling not so great from where I’d eaten as much as I could myself just so that stuff doesn’t get thrown away.

So many people are increasingly going hungry too the fact these companies throw out so many food, they should be fined an excessive amount per weight of food thrown away IMO.

How can we citizens help? How can employees help without losing their jobs?

Edit: How can managers help, without pissing off the CEO?..

Yeah, I think it’s important to keep an eye on the US but the 24 hour news and outrage cycle built around it is just too much. I feel like in most other countries, they vote every 4 or 5 years and those occasions are the only times that politicians are clogging up the news daily, and we mostly go on with our lives in between. But the US side of it just never fkn stops. Trump has made it especially tiresome because it’s been like 10 years straight of his particular clown show now. Every day.

I don’t even mean just their politicians and whatnot. Not just the “newsworthy” stuff (according to billionaire-owned news organizations). I mean their entire victim culture (left and right) that makes them look at everything with an electron microscope for any hint of something they can take offence at. I mean their insistence that their social issues are universal, but others’ social issues are localized and unimportant. I mean their insistence that their understanding of how to do things is how everything should be done (something which set the pretty fantastic gains the Chinese LGBT movement had made in two decades of careful diplomacy back about … two decades).

Just talk about anything except FUCKING AMERICAN POLITICS. PLEASE!

For a hint of what I’m talking about, look at this:

Just positively going over everything with a fine-toothed comb to pick out any opportunity to take offence.

Calling people out on nasty behaviour to others. I know everyone has to pick their battles but I’ll often stand up against bullies and others should too

You mean “hear” more from people? Well, I wish people did more of the whole “give credit where credit is due” habit. People often seem so locked in on their main sentiments about things that they seem to intentionally neglect or cut around the positives in question. To the point where you would often have to wonder if their motivation is to be a jerk for its own sake.
