Disney still pretending to be hurting from all of those subscription drop-offs.
Ah come on, a small independent studio like Disney can’t possibly be expected to pay a living wage. I guess she just doesn’t love the artform enough, and turns her nose up at the glorious exposure…
Good on her for standing her ground. I’m a huge fan of her work and loved seeing her in Star Wars, but nobody should work for less than their worth. She’s not an A-list star, and actors like her may have a huge following, but that doesn’t mean they’re necessarily rich beyond measure. This actually exposes a pretty serious problem in entertainment. People have families and bills, and even being a famous actor doesn’t mean you’re dripping in diamonds—despite most of the general public assuming that’s the case.
Dawsons creek main actor has a gofund me page for his cancer treatment he cant afford.
Nobody should care if she’s not on A-tier actor list anyway. That is Disney and this is Star Wars. Not some indie movie from a small studio.
farscape, than sg1, and then she kinda disappeared, im guessing it was hard to find roles at her age, or she dint have any nepo connections. and then ORIGINALs was her other show.
She did a lot of voice acting roles in that interim, presumably while raising her kids.
Won’t someone think of the investors pay.
I was so happy that Claudia Black was in Star Wars. But unless they had something big planned for season 2, she didn’t get to do a lot. She was only in the last few episodes.
So, like half a season then?
happy that disney cant get good actors of something like pay.

I love Claudia. Good for her.
Me too, but I’m not so sure about Claudia Blonde.
Har har.
Who did she play in season 1?
Claudia Black, who played Nightsister Klothow in Season 1 of Ahsoka on Disney+
Thanks.
I’d demand an insane salary too if they wanted me to work on that turd of a show.
I wonder how much she “needed” and how much they offered. I bet whatever it was, she doesn’t live anywhere near the poverty line.
Edit: Why all the downvotes?
The c-suite execs making the payments aren’t anywhere near the poverty line either.
Perhaps none of them should be this far above the poverty line? (Big disclaimer, I didn’t read the article.)
Did you read the article? It’s obvious what her needs were (see no parenthesis needed), they didn’t meet them so she bowed out. Should she take a deal that’s bad for her because in your mind she doesn’t “need” it?
That’s why you got downvoted.
would you take any job offered as long as it’s above the poverty line, or do you have compensation standards based on the job market and your experience?
Do you think celebrities with all the perks they have really get to be applauded for standing up for themselves when a teacher doesn’t have that kind of privilege?
The solution is not to drag everyone down. Teachers deserve to get paid more but their pay comes mostly from local property taxes instead of a trillion dollar company that owns a third of all media.
This is a relative privation argument. Just because other people are less privileged than Claudia Black doesn’t mean she should be a Disney doormat.
Really sorry about the multipost. Don’t know how that happened. Sorry to blow up your mailbox and again with this message.
When you’re at the top of your craft, you should know your worth, and when someone else doesn’t. A corollary to this is that your should not tolerate when someone doesn’t recognize your worth.
