Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised. Anyone over the age of 25 or so didn’t have everything so blatantly out in the open with the internet as much as they do. When I was a kid we’d look up to adults as people that actually knew what the fuck was going on. Of course, later on in life you realize that nobody knows what the fuck is going on. But people that are growing up now see it for what it is when they’re still in middle-school and highschool. They’re seeing how fucked everything is before they even have a chance to be optimistic. The illusion of stability isn’t just broken, it’s missing entirely.

It’s not a law, but more of a rule enforced by the secret service. Ever since JFK the secret service has restricted the ability of the president to drive outside of private property. There was one time during Obama’s presidency when the secret service went into an immediate panic when decided to drive around the white house.
So I guess you technically could, it’s just an incredibly stupid thing to do. It’s an easy way to piss off the secret service and put your life at risk for no reason.
I miss the days when Google would just give a snippet of a Wikipedia article at the top and you just click the “read more” button. GPS isn’t just for google maps. I’m a land surveyor and we literally use GPS every single day. Without it we’re basically fucked. We do hydrographic surveying and without GPS we’d have to basically go back to analog as 90% of the equipment on our boat would be useless. Good luck figuring out how much water is left in the Colorado river without it.
Im not exactly an expert on this, but i am very familiar with what my job requires. The National Geodetic Survey (NGS) will be completely fucked without it as it’s built on decades of data and monitoring. You can’t just look for “alternatives.” Whatever Elmo has is not robust enough for the precision that is required for what we use GPS for. And without shit like that you couldn’t hit the broad side of a city.
And immediately after it took a nose dive, recovered slightly, and then started trending down like it has been for the last two months. Super strategic.
