Binod Shah, a refugee from Bhutan, went to church, got married and started an auto shop in Twin Falls, Idaho. But an arrest record got him caught in the ICE dragnet
I actually got to meet Binod just a few weeks before he was deported. Seemed like a good guy, really passionate about his business and building good relationships with his customers. The article isn’t joking about them struggling to find any talented mechanics. This town is starving for them in general, and I happen to know that that other kid mentioned in the article quit only a few weeks after Binod was gone (while working on my car funny enough). Real shitty. This story isn’t gonna turn the state blue or anything, if anything it’s only getting more red from the thousands of conservative Californians moving in. But for what it’s worth, most people I’ve talked to about the situation have at least been really sympathetic. Hopefully I’m planting seeds there.

Its really cool to hear from a live person on the (dead) internet these days. Thank you.
They’re sympathetic until it’s time to vote, then they get in line like everybody else.
Those people don’t think. Ever. I do hope so as well.
