However, government shutdown in general are very unpopular. When Republicans go there, their immediate popularity takes a hit. The problem is that American voters have short memories, and are likely to forget before the next election.
I’m all about trying to obstruct what the GOP are doing…but what’s the gain in picking this fight? What’s the “better deal” to be had?
If I were a GOPer that truly cared about the national debt, I’d be pissed that Johnson is passing an extension of Biden spending priorities after he said back in December that the budget fight would come in March. Of course we’ll see how many “budget hawks” actually remember that conversation.
