Its just 6 giant supervillains fighting each other over the ruins of tokyo. I think for a lot of people Nintendo is the favorite but if any of them win or if they stop fighting we all lose.

This is just how giant corporations work in markets. Its when they start working together to destroy the city that things get really bad. (Look at what tyson and cargill did to meat prices in the US, for instance).

And if you look at who is trying to do that, well which company has been buying up game companies with the hopes of corning the market on AAA titles?

they’re pretty damned evil, dude. “but other companies are worse” doesn’t take away from their shittiness.

Adding to what Kolanaki said, these kinds of abuses are unfortunately pretty commonly unreported in Japan because of social pressure against the victim.

In particular there’s a practice of mentally abusing workers until they resign to avoid firing them.

Sexism and homophobia are alive and well because they’re rooted in a culture of conformity to social norms which punishes those who stand out.

And I don’t mean to be xenophiobic about this; it’s just information I’ve gotten from LGBT manga authors and the news. I in no way think there’s anything inherently wrong with Japanese people or that their culture is without value. I don’t really trust any large corporations to begin with.

That’s fair. But that just makes them a standard evil corporation. I just mean to say that calling nintendo a supervillain is a hyperbole compared to companies actually doing crimes against humanity.

Hey if they are I will definitely put them up there with the most evil gaming companies. It’s not why they are getting called a “supervillain” for that now though. I’m not defending them, just heard a lot worse from ubisoft or activision is all. Nintendo is definitely annoying the shit out of me though.

I can’t tell if you’re defending nintendo or not, man. I am weirded out by consumers defending multibillion dollar corporations.

Nah my point was that nintendo is just your standard evil corporation. I think the super villain part is a bit of a hyperbole compared to say, amazon or nestle.

I think theyre all shitty and adjectives to describe them being literal or figurative don’t matter.

That’s fine. Fuck nintendo and all that. Just trying to put whatever evil things nintendo is doing in perspective to actual problems.

it is an actual problem, but I am starting to think I’m just feeding a troll, honestly.

ok like… they’re filing patents for bullshit and litigating a bunch of dubious cases, but afaik no one has been cut up with bone saws and stuffed into a piece of luggage.

I don’t put it past wario but…? did I miss something? because that’s literally who EA’s selling out to

put EA higher on the evil scale.

I don’t like where nintendo is going, but yeah, the EA thing is a whole new kind of ‘fucking gross’

the irony is EA started as a company that would (gasp!) CREDIT THE DEVELOPERS. Because previous companies didn’t - there wasn’t any credit given to anyone anywhere. EA said ‘come program for us and we’ll put you in the credits!’ and it worked.

But then sometime about 8 years later they’d become the EA we all know and hate and things really haven’t changed much since.
