Earlier this year, French authorities identified almost 80 disinformation campaigns led by a Russian operation dubbed Storm 1516. These mainly targeted Ukraine and its allies. So who is behind this disinformation…
I think, unfortunately, a lot of the hard right/fascist movements and political parties have their legs under them now. And I think a HUGE amount of blame goes towards all the idiotic neoliberal bullshit that’s encroached into everything in the last few decades.
But I also think that the time to respond firmly and harshly to Russia’s influence and disruption campaigns was about 20 years ago… but the US - and more broadly, NATO - was too fucking focused on pursuing the terroristsoil and hegemony in the middle east to pay attention to that, with obvious catastrophic implications in multiple areas and directions.
I honestly think the cat’s out of the bag at this point, and that even if Russia were to be Thanos snapped out of existence or relevance, things would keep going on current trajectories with not too much disruption.
