I’ve watched with growing concern how the left has gone from calling for inclusivity to creating an environment where dissenting voices are shamed and shut out.
They say they want open dialogue, but when conservatives speak, they don’t debate us, they try to erase us.
When you claim to be for freedom and equality, yet work to silence your opposition, you’re showing the very authoritarianism you say you’re against.
That contradiction is what I call Leftist Fascism, and it’s something worth resisting.
As a conservative of color, the hypocrisy cuts even deeper. I’ve seen firsthand how quickly the same people who wave the banner of diversity turn hostile when my opinions don’t match theirs.
They’ll uplift voices that echo their ideology, but the second someone like me steps out of line, I’m treated as though I’ve betrayed some unspoken code. Diversity only matters to them if it’s ideological conformity dressed up as representation. That’s a dangerous game that undermines the very foundation of free thought.
When they cheer on silencing and bullying, they reveal the truth: they don’t want dialogue, they want dominance.
I refuse to accept that. I won’t be bullied into leaving or silenced for speaking my mind.
I’m here because I believe conservative perspectives deserve a place at the table, even when it makes others uncomfortable.
If we give in to their tactics, we surrender freedom itself. And I won’t be part of that surrender.
Took me hours to find a conservative community here in lemmy after creating my account, in fact all I saw was A LOT of negative posts related to the Trump admnistration and not a single right wing stuff on sight, plus I got bombarded with left-wing narrated politics while all I wanted was posts related to arts and science fiction discussions. And no, I am not a conservative or anything related to american politics because I am not American at all, but I am curious enough to look up/watch american politics sometimes when I have nothing to do at the moment. Pretty much standard for me to search both leftist and rightist communities in any platform I go to see how both sides are treated by the platform.
I’m like you: I prefer both sides of view, then I try to sense the truth from those too extremes.
Since Lemmy swings soooo left, this comm does have mostly focus conservative-centric articles. But there are a few here and there that are not flattering. By keeping it conservative-focused, I was hoping that at least it can balance the scales just a little bit.
The biggest thing is that a lot of Lemmy left-leaning will come here, not make any comments, and just go down the line and downvote every single article without even reading them.
Lemmy, in general, does NOT fell like both sides should be able to be heard. As you have found out!
The amount of hate I get daily is…um extreme. lolol But all good. I know that most Lemmy skews a little younger, and has a lot of extreme/anti-social users, so I don’t take any of it personally.
Thanks for dropping in tho, there are others on here that are like you. JMost don’t say it because of the extreme remarks that Lemmy has a tendency to lean into. So I appreciate your bravery and candor.
I personally believe extremism, regardless of viewpoint, is detrimental to all.
