… is what the Nazis would have said in 1942.

On a seperate note, how is voicing one’s opinions more “pushing hate” than celebrating the murder of a person?

Nobody (?) is expecting everyone to have empathy with him, but not empathizing with someone and enjoying their murder are two different things.

Celebrating his death is a disgrace to democracy and the human dignity. And that doesnt make a person much better than him.

It’s not transactional. For it to be transactional, it has to have a value for both sides. Empathy holds no value for MAGAs, so they shouldn’t care if they receive it or not. In fact, they should even be offended at the offer of Empathy, sort of like how Atheists get irritated when asked to offer Thoughts & Prayers for school shootings.

“I can’t stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that — it does a lot of damage.”

            In Kirk’s own words.

Conveniently left out the following two sentences where he states that he just prefers the term “sympathy” over “empathy” and dislikes the latter because of a miniscule detail in its origin

                  1. Those are just more quotes without context
                  2. I still dont see how the would prove your point

(I would like to note that I don’t agree at all with Kirk’s opinions just so that doesn’t get mixed up)

So why listen to him and hold back empathy? It doesn’t mean to love him or to support him, just to feel for him.

Empathy is generally described as the ability to perceive another person’s perspective, to understand, feel, and possibly share and respond to their experience.

                  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empathy

Empathy doesn’t mean that you have emotions but that you understand his.

This has nothing to do with “voicing an opinion”.

He spread hatred, hatred for feminists, hatred for trans people, hatred for anything that reeked left-wing. And hatred isn’t an opinion. We’re just giving back what he gave the world. You call that celebrating the murder of a person, but didn’t he call for the bailing out of another murderer and called that act “patriotic”? He and his wife are reaping what they sowed.

Could you elaborate on that hatred for feminists? Couldn’t find much on him spreading hatred for feminists (apart from him disagreeing with them)

About his statements on trans people I was quite surprised (I acknowledge that is clearly hatred). I couldn’t stop noticing, however, that his statements about trans people (implying that they should be murdered on the street) are almost the exact same thing people are saying about him (he deserved to be murdered like that). Both are - in my opinion - inhumane radical extremist positions and holding the latter, imo, gives illegitimely gives a justification to the latter (as in - murder on the basis of ideology being acceptable).

TERFs are right wingers, sure, but those aren’t feminists.

Feminists want equal rights for everyone, doesn’t get much more leftwing than that.

The Gender Criticals, aka TERFs or FARTs or whatever you want to call them, have co-opted talking points from feminism, but twisted them to be able to exclude trans people.

Nope, the only difference between TERFs & Feminists are, that TERFs are bold & open.

                That’s fucking stupid.

TERF is a reactionary ideology, while feminism is one of liberation. If you can’t tell the difference, that says a lot more about you than the ideologies.

Yes I can tell the difference & what have they liberated exactly ??

The feminist govt in Finland supports a male-only draft. Feminists in England want to support abolishing prisons for women. Feminists never spoke up about the tax-breaks for mothers in Hungary.

Calling me stupid isn’t going to change reality. You might be surprised when they come after your head; But hey you keep telling that to yourself. I just don’t want a fellow Progressive to be blindsided.

It’s really not that hard for a person of reasonable intelligence to distinguish the difference, unless one is being disingenuous.

As a “person of reasonable intelligence” would have noticed, provided they had taken the time to actually understand that statement, I was at no point asking for a difference to be pointed out. Rather, I asked for the ethical reasoning that leads to the conclusion that voicing one’s opinion is to be seen as worse than the murder of that person.
