Despite his support for Trump, Ragland has become increasingly vocal about the need for immediate trade resolution. “We desperately need to get something rectified quickly with China, our biggest export customer,” he told CNN. “We wanna encourage the administration to get a proactive trade deal done.”
Midwestern Dems are sprinkled with nativist, anti-China, police gimp politicians that overwhelmed their GOP colleagues. So it’s sort of a crap shoot. You might get a Tim Walz or you might get a Pete Buttigieg or you might get a Terri Sewell.
Just “Vote Blue No Matter Who” isn’t a panacea. Not when so many Dems are cuddling up to the Cheney and Bloomberg brand of Republicanism, even as they fervently reject Ilhan Omar and Rashida Talib
Biden had four years to reverse Trump policies, rebuild ties with our largest trading partners, and prosecute the corrupt officials in the prior administration.
Instead, he continued the War on Migrants, tried to shut down TikTok while flooding Israel with cheap munitions, and gave a DOJ sized shrug to fascists big and small.
These decisions cost his party 6M votes between 2020 and 2024.
I thought “blue no matter who” was a call for the general election because at the federal level the alternative is the republican.
Then to change the direction of the party you have to be involved far ahead of the election in the candidate suction process.
… not that they’re necessarily going to listen. The forced two party thing we have going will probably always corrupt the “good” party if there is one.
If you’re supporting reactionaries in your own party, you’re not opposing Republicans at the national level.
Bullshit. In this case our reality is so twisted that this is the time to vote blue, no matter who. Anti-fascist, no matter who. Least unethical, no matter who.
I look forward to the day when all major candidates are not channeling evil supervillains, who care about their constituents (not just enriching their friends and corporate benefactors) and can articulate a platform toward their concept. I look forward to the day we can relate to “both sides” again, to the day we can debate the merits of different proposals. I too wish for that utopia where it’s reasonable to choose on who has the best plan.
In the meantime it’s just not ok
That’s how you end up with a Congress and President who continues to pander to fascism from the liberal side of the aisle.
We played the “Vote Blue” game with Biden and he pooched it. Burned another generational opportunity for reform so he could placate his friends in Israel and Wall Street.
You can’t look forward to it. You have to champion it. That means actively opposing Democrats who are complicit in the horror.
This is the mentality that continues to propel Andrew Cuomo’s campaign.
