“These cases will not be bound over to the circuit court,” Simmons, a state district court judge, said. “Each case will be dismissed.”

Simmons said the Michigan Republicans involved in the effort were trying to seek redress after Trump’s loss and attempted to perform their civic duties.

“The prosecution would like the court to believe that these named defendants were savvy or sophisticated enough to understand fully the electoral process, which the court does disagree because the document that was presented doesn’t even align with the level of sophistication that they want me to believe,” she said before announcing her decision.

I don’t understand. Maybe I’m the unsophisticated one.

What does this mean: “Michigan Republicans involved in the effort were trying to seek redress after Trump’s loss and attempted to perform their civic duties”?

    1. What is appropriate redress for your candidate losing an election?

    2. Which legal duty were they exercising while falsifying documents and swearing to falsehoods?

I find the following list of appropriate redress. Which one of these did they do, again?

    •	Accepting the result: Recognize that elections reflect the will of the electorate, even if the outcome is disappointing. Legitimacy depends on losers conceding gracefully.
    •	Supporting future campaigns: Channel energy into organizing, volunteering, fundraising, or running for office in the next cycle.
    •	Engaging in issue advocacy: Work with advocacy groups, community organizations, or political action committees to advance policies aligned with your values.
    •	Petitioning and contacting representatives: Continue influencing government through lobbying, petitions, and direct constituent outreach.
    •	Civic participation: Attend town halls, join local boards, or participate in grassroots activism to shape political priorities.
    •	Legal remedies: If there’s credible evidence of irregularities, the proper channel is through courts and established election contest procedures—not unilateral or extra-legal action.
