      +1 to this.

      But I would say any type of calm discussion is on its way out, not just politics. I see so many people constantly being triggered/offended that I don’t think they can have any discussion without instantly switching into aggressive mode. Even the colors one chose to wear is enough to start a dispute.

      I stopped having calm discussions about politics when feelings became more important than facts, it was around Brexit I think. I have a very well rehearsed final line for political discussions:

      “You have told me how you feel, and I have told you the facts of the situation. You now have a choice, you can accept the facts and change your feelings, or you can reject the facts and be an asshole.”

    My patience.

    I’m too old for this shit, and that shit is getting old fast, so just bloody well hurry up while dishing it out. Good stuff, bad stuff, I just ain’t got the time to wait around with my thumb up my ass all damn day.
