Proton literally praised Trump, caused a bunch of drama, killed off their mastadon server, doubled down on the trump support via their official accounts on X…
They should sit the fuck down at this point. The oh but we’re the good guys train has left the station awhile ago.
There is an expression in my language for people like you “coffee grinder” - because they go round and round talking about the same thing.
If you were at least correct… Saying that one party did one thing right doesn’t mean supporting that party blindly or fully. You know, normal people CAN see or say positive things even about people they don’t like, that’s called objectivity. Doesn’t mean they like them, support them, vote for them or anything else.
I agree that maybe even the one opinion should not have been made by the company official channel, but its much more okay than people like you, who spread hate and toxicity (much like the republicans that you so much hate…)
Given they double downed, used official channels to reinforce, removed discourse by killing the Mastadon server as mentioned… It’s fair to say the whole.
The guards on trial at Nuremberg didn’t get a pass cause the CEO of the Nazis had the opinion and they “just followed orders” . Why should the social media team at Proton when the CEO supports modern Nazi wannabes?
I was unaware of those additional details. I thought it was just the CEO being a dick, and perhaps performing for the Audience of One (orangeboi). I’ll be dropping them as a service I use considering this new data.
zraziel@lemmy.world There really is always one person when proton comes up :D Please stop seeing this black and white, it does not help. Proton stays neutral …
Huh your account literally only comments on Proton news in support of them and is a year old.
Companies used to be less transparent with their corporate shrill accounts, guess that is an improvement.
I honestly mostly read here. But at some point you have to take a stance, and this constant buggering triggered me.
Nobody has new arguments, riding the same train again and again:
One tweet that didn’t read well, definitely, but which is interpreted at the worst outcome possible. The company “doubling down”, which they explained, but again interpreted as worst possible outcome, not believing a word they are saying.
So, why? People are seeing black and white, not believing anything, which destroys more than it helps.
It’s a good european company with a history of privacy that has an awesome product, especially when moving away from Google without much effort. And that’s much more important than this fuckn tweet!
What part of it is hard to understand? Proton made a series of fuck ups and as a result some people no longer want to give them their custom.
Being European and privacy-focused does not automatically mean they deserve our money. I think their actions were substantial enough for them to deserve a loss of customers.
And that’s completely fine, I understand. They fucked up, apparently they aren’t big enough to have a decent PR team or something.
What I am arguing is that whenever proton comes up, even just the name, no matter what’s the context, people are digging up the tweet again! They just can’t let it be and go out of their way to post it again and again. It is so tiring. Just have a normal conversation about the topic of the article please.

Do you have sources to back up your claims?
Yeah. They just want to piggyback off of the current events. We already have Mullvad VPN and it’s great.
The whole of Proton or just the CEO?

Nice, Lemmy is no longer different than Reddit. Has it finally gotten that big?

Leave them be, haters gonna hate. I am afraid its the attention they get that encourages them…

Soo… maybe I’m not the shrill account, but rather the people discrediting proton are working for Google? Just a thought…
