That would be the smart move. But they’ll let it last too long and GoT it to make us hate the ending.

When they killed Joel. They killed the show too. Call me crazy but coping the second game was a bad idea.
They will undoubtedly call you crazy, and probably an incel for not liking it. Because it seems you can either be a rabid Druckman fan or a bigot.
Back in the reddit days, I wrote about how bad the storytelling was, and I got dog piled with anti-hate vitriol. I basically turned all social media off until the game came out to avoid any spoilers. But in that time, I guess the game got brigaded for being woke or LGBT revisionist or some dumb shit like that. So when I finished that 30 hr shit sandwich and wrote about it, I apparently came off like one of the screeching incels.
A short while later, Nakey Jakey put out his take on the game in which he shared a couple of the main complaints I had, especially regarding pacing, narrative depth, and chronology. It was very vindicating to hear someone I do find insightful to also share a perspective. It was enough for me to shut the fuck up about it.
So I’ll share what I learned inb4 any of the LOU activists have a chance to throw shade. People like the game, and that’s cool. I’m legit happy for them. I was so enamored with the world building and moved by the plot that I wanted more, but I should have kept my dick out of the cookie jar and never touched P2. It wasn’t for me and it ruined the experience of P1. But you better believe I learned my lesson. P2 of the show will go unwatched for the rest of my life.
And P3 will gain sentience and self awareness for the sole purpose of fucking itself before I ever throw a dime at that shit show.
I’m ok with this. The Walking Dead’s biggest mistake was never ending.
I just want to point out that one of the beautiful parts of TWD is that it does keep on going. Most zombie stories only focus on the start of the outbreak, but doesn’t show how things evolve as time goes on. This is what made TWD different.
But I agree, eventually it needs an end, even if that is everyone dying/infected.
The Last of Us needs to end because it’s based on an existing story that has an ending. Don’t invent new stuff, just tell the story that needs to be told and then end it.
TWD quickly turned into a let’s get more sadistic, without widening it’s scope. After the 3rd or 4th season it was just milking the cow.
The thing about the walking dead and spin offs is that the zombies became an afterthought and it became a procedural drama instead of a horror/thriller.
The second season has/had an insurmountable problem. The source material is just bad. The first game is one of the GOAT, the second game was just bad.
You don’t kill a beloved character at the start… There is no recovering from that in a TV show or movie.
Unfortunately the second game did that. The show had to either ignore that and go in a totally different direction or kill the beloved character.
If the show had not killed him the amount of screaming and vitriol the online community would have unloaded about the show would be without end.
Unfortunately they killed the beloved character so that just alienated all the non-gamer fans.
It also doesn’t help that the entire second season felt completely rushed and slow as shit at the same time.
I love Bella Ramsey as Ellie, watching her catch so much shit is just heart breaking.
I felt the same way a few times throughout the second game but I came to appreciate the storyline. When he was killed, I thought fuck this I’m not playing this shit. Then again when I had play as Abby, but quickly game to appreciate the way it was narrated.

Good, I had a hard time getting through season 2. It turned into a CW channel soap opera drama.
What is a CW?
Television channel in the US that mostly plays bad tween drama series.
I just assumed season 2 was the end. Wasn’t season 1 the first game and season 2 the second? Aren’t they done?
They split the second game in two seasons.
This is fine. Then, move on to the next game series.
To give it a proper ending like in the game, 4 seasons is needed.
I mean, the first three episodes would cover Abby’s three days, which still leaves another 3-4 episodes to tell the last part of story. They would have to add filler to do a 4th season.
I didn’t think about it in that level of detail. I was thinking more season 3 would be Abby’s Seattle and 4 would be Ellie’s journey to and from and an expanded ending. While I loved the ending in the game it left much to interpretation. They’ve done a tremendous job with the show so far and I trust whatever their decision, it will be good.
They never wanted to give a definitive plan to get to 4 seasons other than they were not going to go “beyond” where the game ends. Given the structure they did for season 2, I can’t see it working without adding extra story. To get to 4 seasons they would need to focus more time on Abby flashbacks and increase the Santa Barbara portion.
Santa Barbara felt a bit too short to me but I suppose if it were longer, it would just be too repetitive.
Could be that is what caused the fallout. Maybe Neil was promised the chance to extend and explore his story more, but the ratings and backlash made them change their minds.
That’s disappointing news and I can only guess the backlash are from those that did not play the game.
What happened in episode 2 is the prelude to part 2.
I’m not surprised. If they hadn’t lost so many viewers after Pedro’s character died, I could see them making it 4 seasons. But, with him being the/a huge draw, and with the miscasting issues of the two female leads… it just didn’t have what it needed to continue to lead.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of the games and show. But, everything I hear about it is gripes about these two sticking points. I think the writers and directors, and even actors, can do a lot to continue to make good episodes, and I like them, but they’re not the same and everyone who’s complaining has legitimate concerns.
The only people calling it a miscasting are people that cant accept that the show is different than the game.
And people who are upset at not being sexually attracted to an nb actor who was portraying a 14-year-old girl… I took a look at the trashy sub a few weeks ago and it’s pretty gross.
