I lurk the WomensStuff community when it comes across my browsing because it’s a cool community but don’t comment because I’m a man!
Thanks Nimble!
Ofc, thank you for hosting a great community ^^
I normally block communities for my own good. I blocked WomensStuff for their good. I don’t have the same self control as you do.
Self-hosting communities. I like the idea and do self host if you consider renting a VPS selfhosting, but can’t fit/afford an extra PC (let alone a server rack) in my flat to properly participate in the community.
A VPS is a valid system for self hosting. I know a lot of folks who have local servers and use VPS depending on their needs
You’re welcome to join the discussion 🙂
Thanks for the encouragement! Guess I should really put my shyness aside and just dive into the community discussion :) (I do read and learn from others already, but was too shy to make posts)
VPS is absolutely self-hosting.
For some reason I thought it’s home-hosting only. But I love the two answers I got and think I’ll try to participate there!
Almost everywhere. 95% of the comments I type I don’t even post.
Well we’d love to hear them!
Reddit. I don’t want to contribute my content to them. But I do visit their niche communities.
Fair. Which ones do you like?
Just a few examples…
r/Pomeranians r/cloudygamer r/EmulationOnAndroid r/HomeKit r/Hypertension
Yep they’re niche… hopefully you get more of what you like here
To be honest, I lurked a bit in your (other) community when you moved. Naturally I can’t interact, since I don’t identify as a woman… I’m still a bit unsure whether that was a good thing to do, but I was a bit curious what you do there and what kind of atmosphere such a community has. Now I know, and I can stop lurking. (Seems to be an excellent place, btw.)
With other communities I don’t really notice that much. They’re all in a big feed and I engage with some posts and I don’t interact with others. That’ll make me a lurker with some communities and topics. While the ones I have to contribute something to, will end up with my comments underneath.
Thanks we’ve been helped by having brilliant members there! It’s a lovely group
I like reading about tech, science, and current events but don’t feel like I know enough on these subjects to contribute to the discussion.
If only more followed your example!
I mainly just lurk in news communities although I do comment sometimes
Maybe I comment too much
Edit: !gardening@lemmy.world and !foodporn@lemmy.world
I like the content, but I’m very bad at both.
