Well, depends on the art form :)

Music wise, I am bloody deep into this guy that started on YouTube ages ago, back before you could even make money doing YouTube. Carson McKee. This is one of my favorite covers he’s done.

He’s also worked with some other YouTube kids that all ended up becoming professional musicians. He’s part of a duo called The Other Favorites. The other guy is awesome in his own right, with the added skill of playing damn near every stringed instrument out there. The whole mini collective of them and their other friends have toured together and done videos of covers that they’ve done jn various combinations.

But Carson, his voice just hits all the right buttons for me. It’s like sitting on a porch on a cool autumn evening, wrapped up in a favorite sweater with some hot cider. Pure soothing comfort.

In visual arts, it’s gotta be David Mack.

He’s best known as a comic artist and writer. Which is where I first saw his work. But he also does art unrelated to that as well. It’s mostly mixed media, and it’s almost surreal at times.

While he’s very well known and respected in the comic world, he hasn’t hit general awareness yet. He’s successful as an artist outside of the comic world, just not very well known outside of folks that are into art fairly heavily.

He’s also a really nice guy. I’ve met him a few times at comic conventions, and while most artists and writers at those are going to be nice enough, he’s the sort to really talk with people beyond what’s expected. Especially if you get going about art in general lol.
