Perhaps some people are out of touch, regardless of whatever arbitrary date they were born. But the response to that shouldn’t be infighting among other working class people, it should be conversation that addresses root cause.
Sadly the number of boomers I have met who are ridiculously angry that a “burger flipper” at a fast food joint makes $18 an hour shows me that it truly does lean towards being a generational mindset as well. The true outliers are the more reasonable boomers from my personal interactions but ymmv depending on location. That being said I do totally agree that the root cause is class based but many of those boomers fall into that upper middle class that has been pinned against the lower classes for so long.
Old people being out of touch is a trend that has been happening at least since there was written language. That’s no reason to blame them for societal ills when it’s the wealth hoarders causing the problems. It is a shame they’re so easily manipulated by social media and cable news though.
They’ve been propagandized. They didn’t organically come up with the idea of being upset at fast food workers making a livable wage. Fox News and their ilk told them to be angry about it because wedge issues keep us distracted from the fact the wealthy take a disproportionate of the fruit of our labor
