There is no such thing as non-lethal shot placement. One of the basic rules of gun safety is that you do not point your gun at anything you don’t want to destroy.
If you don’t want to kill someone, you don’t use a gun.
Firearms training doesn’t teach you to do some sharpshooter type “Shoot the gun out of his hand” shit (Saying this as an example, it’s very clear Pretti was not carrying a weapon in hand.). You’re trained to shoot center mass and shoot until the threat stops. That said, it’s really hard for me to believe that he was somehow a threat after a bunch of dudes kicked the shit out of him, then still a threat after shooting him in the back 5 times. That was a murder. Straight up.
