What we have learned from this is that ALL of the state, county, and municipal police and military assets are entirely useless at actually protecting the people of the state. They don’t work for us, so lets stop paying for it and replace this shit with something that does.
Thing is, when you “stop paying for it”, you’ll learn quickly what the actual function of those institutions is.
We need to reach a critical mass to where opting out, collectively, does more harm than they’re able or willing to tolerate. I thought for a long time we couldn’t reach it without improving the education system… which requires working within the system… which requires selling your soul, endorsing genocide, etc. But now I’m starting to question that - maybe we can grassroots it after all.
My concern is that the momentum in that direction will be squashed when Democrats inevitably get elected over Republicans (because I don’t think they have the political capital to pull of a coup at this point), as liberals will think they “won” because now the deportations are less in-your-face and the genocide is presented less in terms of “FUCK YEAH GLASS THE DESERT” and instead presented as “well it’s terrible, so terrible, very sad, but Israel is our ally…”

There isn’t a very structured process for approvals or denials of things like temporary protected status. If there were then practically anybody being deported would have been able to sue and get back in.
I’m on your side about this but the reality is that the Supreme Court is politicized and largely siding with this administration, congress still sides with this administration, and the billionaire corporations we all feed into to grow their wealth are all siding with it too.
It’s amazing to me that we can’t get 60% of the vote to lock shit down, but the reality is that “democrats” aren’t on our side outside of a handful of exceptions like Bernie. Big money owns politics. We’re seeing the fallout of allowing superpacs to be funded now. The citizens united ruling back in 2010 is what is fucking us, but it’s too complex for people to rally behind for a general strike.
