That is the most disheartening part. I didn’t build American Hegemony, nor was I victim of it, but damn it if there wasn’t a chance we could have collectively come to our senses and practiced what our constitution preaches. There was a path forward to that “Star Trek” future in my eyes.
The US fundamentally didn’t stand a chance of achieving a Star Trek future. Individuals and society have opposing goals. The US is big on individuals, so society will suffer.
I read a Chinese work on this a year or so ago. In that, our current world fell apart in the nuclear war because America couldn’t settle its differences. Humanity built a new society on top of it to be much more collectivist, though they also modified the anatomy of the human species somewhat to make this possible. Of course, some people felt that the price of preventing the rise of another Trump is too much to pay, and started a revolt.
The question put forward by that work is essentially this: Suppose you had a magic button that made everyone feel immense empathy for everyone else, and want to genuinely improve everyone’s well-being. However, this will cause everyone to live simple lives, forever. “Interesting times” will be a thing of the past, for better or worse. Would you take the offer?

There still is and there will be
Remember that star trek too had WWIII around this time, before they got to their senses
Then again, its a show, of course, but it’s a good example to aspire to
Star Trek had a massive nuclear war before the idyllic future we see in the show, seems we’re pretty on track actually
Bell Riots, when?
Shit, you ain’t even getting Starship Troopers.
You’ll get the fascism part and not get the mixed gender bathrooms.
It has been like a year or two since I have seen it, but what am I not getting?
One of my favorite parts of the entire movie was how it was literally a propaganda film with the advertisement for the televised execution.
I will say, your post should have had:
Because my answer would be yes
Still is just gotta fight for it. Do and get others doing too!! Plenty of us are nationwide but the more the better!!
