I have seen the first episode. Parts are a bit clunky and parts are good. Star Trek shows have a long history of having shaky pilots so I am going give this show some rope.

The music is not so good and I am not what to make of the ship, also the uniforms kind of suck.

I haven’t watched any Star Trek shows in is entirety since STNG, so I have no idea what “The Burn” is, I suspect that will either not matter or will get explained later.

So far the character set ups have been good. There is some good seeds planted there.

I do have to tip my Holly Hunter. She looks great.

I was going to give this some rope, but wife told me not to put on that rancid shit ever again. If Discovery and Harry Potter had a hate fuck child.

She’s a fan of TNG and Voyager and completely traumatized by Picard and Discovery.

    When she’s right, she’s right.

LMAO @ Harry Potter ad Discovery Hate Fuck Child.

Now that I have seen E2, I agree with your wife. I am done with this mess.

The burn: At some point all the refined dilithium in the galaxy was ignited at once, so all the warp capable ships were destroyed. No one could travel between worlds for a good stretch.

Or that’s how I remember it, good enough for you to have some background :)

It’s a bit clunky of a start, but I am honestly enjoying it so far. I really like Captain Ake’s whole persona. I loved that she was completely sucked into a book while sitting in the captains chair, that would absolutely be what I would end up doing.

Not a whole lot has happened yet, so we will see where the show’s plot goes, but I like it. I really do like the shape of the ship too.

As someone who has watched every Trek, the tone of the show seems more in line with Discovery than Strange New Worlds. I don’t judge any show by their first few episodes so I’ll keep watching to see where it goes.

Star Trek shows have a very long history of getting better as they go on, so I am going to give it a few episodes.

This show is extremely stupid. I’ve never been so disappointed by a Star Trek premier… Except for discovery. That show is also shit

Really? In order for me to be disappointed I have to have some expectation of quality.

Star Trek Shows have lousy for decades. People say Deep Space 9 gets better after the third season, I never made it that far, because I was around when it premiered. I have never gotten past the first season.

Voyager never hooked me, nor did Enterprise. I found Janeway’s voice grating and Enterprise had too many low angle shots of Bakula’s package.

Discovery and Picard were utter dogshit… good lord. Strange New Worlds is all over the place. Parts are really good and parts are just so bad.

Strange New Worlds is the most consistently good Star Trek has ever been.
Your single takeaway from Voyager is… Telling.

For DS9, yeah, they don’t even introduce the main plot line of the series until the end of the second season. A lot of it early is continuation of the same threads from TNG, and it gets much better in the seasons where it finds its own identity after TNG went off the air.

Honestly, Lower Decks is the best Trek we’ve had recently.

It’s garbage. Star Trek: 90210, highschool, melodramatic trash. They continue their streak of refusing to write any actual science fiction in their science fiction shows, spending the entire time on character drama and scene after scene of intense emotional exposition making the pacing an absolute drain. Half the tech looks like it’s from Star wars FFS.

Yeah now that I have seen E2 your assessment is spot on. I told myself to give this thing some rope, but I am done with it.

My problem is that I think I am a Star Trek fan, and since I haven’t really loved anything Trek for 30 years ,First Contact , i need to give it up.

It’s definitely not my favourite and I can’t say I am that interested in many of the characters. But I do understand that Star Treks typically start off slow and take 1-2 seasons before they get good. So I will reserve judgement.

I remember not liking Voyager and even TNG that much when they first began but they became my favourites.

Like I posted I was determined to give this show some rope and I think shows should be allowed to get going, but come on man.

TWO SEASONS? In the streaming world that is 16-20 hours.
