I can’t bloody shift it! I had the worst of it a couple of weekends ago and every time I feel better, the next day I feel terrible again. A blocked nose is meaning I get fuck all sleep and I keep feeling extremely exhausted.
Next year I’m definitely getting the jab!
Don’t know if this is any consolation, but the variant going around this season wasn’t the one expected when the vaccines were manufactured. It still seems to lessen the severity a bit, but the vaccine wasn’t made for this H3N2 strain. But yeah, always get the jab.
Had a normal flu a few weeks back that took 2 weeks to shift. My boss got Pneumonia soon after which he has not shaken off (I work remote, so no it has nothing to do with me). And now I’m got some new chesty thing where it feels like I’m constantly inhaling dust and causes me to choke a bit at night.
Swift recovery to you
Cheers pal. That doesn’t sound fun!
Dealing with it right now. My partner has had it for over 2 weeks now. We both got the vaccine this year.
Sounds like you have a bad cold, or other respiratory virus, and not the flu.
Exhaustion is literally a hallmark trait of the flu that colds don’t cause without underlying conditions. And this strain specifically lasts longer than most flus.
Try not diagnosing people over the Internet when you don’t know the basics.
A blocked nose
That’s what’s causing OPs exhaustion as they clearly state. And yet no mention of body aches, fever etc
It’s kind of both - I would be tired from the poor sleep, but also just a general lack of overall energy. I can have broken sleep in the past and still feel energetic in the day.
The flu is generally speaking borderline debilitating. High fever and muscle aches and cramps are the hallmark symptoms of flu. Granted, this strain seems to be more of a slow burner than others but me and my partner have both had flu in the past and have both had a respiratory virus, probably a cold, already this year that is definitely not the flu.

That’s not true. You can have the flu and have very mild symptoms. I had a high fever the other weekend and I was basically crashed out in bed for the weekend, and while the fever went away, everything else has remained. It seems like this strain seems to be hanging around on people for a lot longer.

Fair enough, it seemed to suggest in your post originally that a blocked nose was your only symptom.
Why do so many very, very stupid people think you can suffocate from a stuffy nose or surgical mask?
Who mentioned suffocation or masks? How about you shut up?
Suffocation in medical terminology applies to circumstances that impede airflow and therefore oxidation of the blood, aka your “their stuffed nose exhausted them” theory.
In other words, stop talking about things you know nothing about.

The OP suggested in their original statement that they were exhausted because they weren’t getting enough sleep. Don’t put words in my mouth because you can’t read.

Dunno your specific flu, but the one I usually get for some years now can be mitigated by exercising, even if it’s a simple walk. Side effects are light-headedness and a burning sensation in my nostrils. But still, maybe worth a try for you?
The times I’ve had flu, it took half an hour of willing myself to be able to get out of bed and make it to the bathroom. I can’t imagine exercising.
Yeah the flu is nasty business. I few years back I was pretty much in bed solid for 2 weeks. When I thought I was ok to walk outside my heart rate picked up, sweating, tired and short breath. Back inside I went.
Most people who claim “it’s just the flu”, do not have flu.
Pro tip: book your flu jab in about September, they always run out of stock by the time you actually need it!
Apparently the flu shot this year is based off last year’s flu so is ineffective for “superflu”
The flushot was dude this year. I got mine early and about a month later was down with the flu for about a week. The only thing I found for it was, when you feel well enough to (i.e. good days) exercise your ass off. You’ll be good for fuck all the next day or two, but on the right side of it after that.
Dude
Dud i.e. did not work because the prevalent strain wasn’t either of the ones they put in it.
Ah that makes sense! my brain couldn’t parse it
