Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez holds a slight lead over Vice President JD Vance in a hypothetical 2028 presidential matchup, according to a new poll.

The New York Democratic congresswoman, known as AOC, edges the likely Republican nominee 51% to 49%, in The Argument/Verasight survey released on Tuesday. However, the result was within the poll’s 2.7 percentage point margin of error, making the two candidates statistically tied. The poll asked voters who they would vote for if the election was between the two of them.

Newsweek, go figure. It’s too early for her to run for pres. AOC needs to take Schumer’s seat first, then become pres after one or two terms loudly pushing for (and hopefully passing) good legislation.

If she runs now, it will inevitably fail and torpedo her future chances. Which is exactly what these goons are hoping for. Hope she doesn’t take the bait.

It’s not about bravery, she simply isn’t ready yet and needs to level up first by doing meaningful things in the senate. She’s too constrained in the house for that, and a jump to presidential run at this stage would be disastrous because she hasn’t had the opportunity yet to do things which meaningfully impact the lives of voters.

Think about how much more effective her push for M4A will be after 4 years of a shitlib like Newsom claiming sky-high insurance premiums is the best we can do. If she tries it now, the establishment will be able to leverage the heavily propagandized voting populace with their usual rhetorical tricks and she’ll be stopped.

“Not ready?” The realty show candidate just won two terms and won complete control of Congress. The electorate simply doesn’t give a shit about whether a candidate has a suitably long resume of elected positions. Honestly, a long political resume is actually a detriment in today’s landscape.

You do not know what electability is.

That’s right, she isn’t ready at all. And if she manages to get into office while Schumer and Jeffries are still there, they will torpedo any good policy she proposes. They have to go first, simple as.

Btw, I’m not talking about electability. I’m talking about getting the job done and passing meaningful reform.

The quickest way to purge the party of the corporate Dems is to get a progressive elected as president. Look at how radically Trump has reshaped the Republican party. A president popular among their party has the ability to completely reshape the policy direction of a party. Trump radically reshaped the Republican party, and the Democratic party is still in the form that it was shaped by the Clintons during the 90s. Trump remade the party in his image. AOC would do the same for the Democratic party.

Trump was able to achieve this due to a cult of personality. Those on the left don’t work that way.

I agree that Dems are stuck in a helpless cycle of neoliberalism which has existed since even before the Clinton admin, beginning back in the 80s when they decided to start chasing corporate cash instead of doing right by the working class. Dems have consistently lost ground ever since, because no matter how subservient they are to corporate interests, the republicans will find ways to be worse and give them even more, and so Repugs always win that donor game anyway.

In order to transform the democrats, the corporate shills must be ousted first. AOC is in a perfect position to get rid of Schumer, one of the absolute worst offenders (and Israeli terrorist boot licker to boot). She has the name recognition, she has the clout and momentum, and she’s in New York. She can primary his ass and get rid of that major obstacle, loudly push for and hopefully pass some much needed reform, then hand pick her successor before ascending to the White House after 1 senate term. It just requires a little patience and coordination, but this is what good political strategy looks like.

We shall have to see what comes to pass, but if she rushes it in ‘28 she will be sabotaged by the establishment politicians and possibly never recover.
