    A customs union (as opposed to a free trade agreement) would basically mean allowing the EU to decide what external tariffs we have

      How does having to comply with standards lower than ours force us to lower standards? We’d already exceed them and so there would be no reason to change any regulations.

        It’s just ironic how it was going to be the UK that was going to start the race to the bottom, yet it’s the EU that’s weakened their farming rules

        The CAP is crap, and subject to political capture by the very people who receive the revenue.
