That works if you live and work in an environment where you control who is in your space. That’s not really an option for most people.

There is no reason for the death penalty. It does not serve justice. It does not act as a deterrent. It does not save cost.
Canada is a distraction. It requires almost zero effort for Trump to kick that hornets’ nest, and you get several news cycles out of the response and all the tweets from celebrities and the economists writing thesis after thesis about what a fucking stupid idea it is.
Meanwhile, what is Trump doing? He’s selling pardons, betraying our allies, dismantling the government structures that can oppose him, and lining his own pockets with our tax dollars.
If you murder a murderer, you don’t reduce the total number of murderers. You have to murder more than one, but then you’re a serial killer, which is arguably worse. If you’re a serial killer who only kills serial killers, then you are starting to maximize the offset. But once you fuck up and get close to being caught, so your serial killer girlfriend blows up Doakes to keep your secret safe and you pin all your murders on him, you’ve gone too far.
Some of the costumes are rather intricate and impressive. And then sometimes they’re racist. People who defend the Mummers try to pretend the bigots have been removed and prohibited frim returning, but this year some bigots attacked the crowd while waving MAGA flag.
The musical acts are good, though. Lotta fun for the kids.
It’s a longstanding Philadelphia tradition with a problematic history of casual and overt racism.
And there are plenty of MAGA dipshits who aren’t rednecks. If you watched the Mummers parade today, you saw a bunch of Delco bigots who wouldn’t know a tractor from a turnip truck. But those guys sure looked pretty in their dresses.
I know this is just some anti-science nonsense, but the term “cultivated meat” sounds to me like factory farming. Nobody minds the science when it makes giant-breasted chickens and perfectly marbled cattle that grow larger and faster than what should be naturally possible. What’s the difference between cultivated meat in a petri dish or cultivated meat on an animal skeleton. Is it the pain that gives it flavor?
