I heard an interesting theory that the stupid tariffs on Canada are intended to destroy their economy and force them to surrender their sovereignty to the US. He doesn’t care if his threats trigger nationalist backlash because he thinks Canada is so dependent on the US that they can’t resist.

I’m not sure he actually has a plan, but if there is a plan I could see it as a play for conquest.

I’ll be shocked to hell if they can’t get some Democrats to vote for this. The party is full of little worms willing to capitulate to fascism.

I told you! Mass labor organization on a scale similar what forced the government to enact the New Deal. Work stoppages, organized boycotts, slowdowns and disruptions, we can break the supply chain and make the economy scream. Stop being so fucking cynical, this has literally worked before.

We’re already punished by being forced to have longer commutes! The company isn’t doing the punishment, of course, but the housing market is by pricing people out of the city.

I also don’t think the company can demand workers pay higher rent without also paying higher wages. They’ll be unable to hire workers if they try. Either the pay increases to match the housing market or they settle for paying commuters.
