  • I wore glasses when I was a kid, maybe ages 7-10, but stopped wearing them because I kept losing or breaking them and I guess my parents decided that if the 10 year old says he can see fine the optometry results don’t matter that much. Started wearing them again when I was 19 and have been wearing them ever since. The only “getting used to” was everything being so much more clear and vivid, and a tiny bit of eye strain.

If you’re having these issues you should definitely insist on seeing someone

  • I think it came up during my initial search a year or so ago. For whatever reason I decided it wasn’t the way to go. I know solidworks supposedly has lots of issues running through programs like wine and proton. The games I play are only Windows-only due to things like anti-cheat bullshit.

I’m unfortunately chained to my Windows install - a handful of Windows-only games I play with friends, and solidworks (I use a VM for it here and there but it’s usually easier to just use Windows). When I first jumped to Linux, though, I accidentally broke my Windows install, so I was forced to get used to it for the first month or so.

  • I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted (there are deleted child comments so maybe that’s where the issue lies), you’re pretty spot on. When I was less politically educated (I don’t pretend to be the most informed now) and considered myself a liberal I was pretty cool with Newsom. Never looked into much of his policies but the headlines usually phrased things in a way that aligned with my ideals at the time so I was ok with him. Now that I’m a good deal older and pay a bit more attention to things I think he’s a complete tool, but in a freak scenario where Trump gets elected for an illegal 3rd term and goes full dictator and Newsom successfully secedes California from the US, California is the obvious option.

  • It blows my mind how US americans just accept that they are having such a high murder rate at all.

Genuine question (for you or anyone else with the same mentality): what would you do? Everyone on this website talks about how weird Americans are for just “being ok with everything going on” when in fact most of us aren’t and have practically no ability to do anything about it that doesn’t result in our own immediate death.

Besides, “amass enough capital (in a system designed to prevent you from amassing capital) to leave this shitty country”, what would you actually do? Since it’s mind blowing that we’re not doing it and all…

(Sorry if this comes across as angry or directed at you, it’s frustrating to live in a dumpster fire and read comments all day from people not in the dumpster fire implying that I’m just totally ok with said dumpster fire.)

  • This is the second or third comment I’ve seen saying that the boyfriend is 16 when everyone’s ages are listed in the OP, odd

Edit: they’ve been living there for two years, I’m a dumb ass

Edit 2: he’s 18 now, they’ve been living there for 2 years, but the apartment was bought for his 18th birthday. Odd again.
