I like the idea in Buddhism, that you are precious/valuable from the moment you are born. You already achieved plenty in your past life, which is why you were born as a human. Therefore, there is no need for self-hatred or for pressure to perform.

The older I get the less I am able to make use of the concept of punishment or even (lasting) guilt. I mean what is even the point of punishing? It just adds more misery on top.

Don’t get me wrong: It is necessary to reflect on the bad things one did. But I do not feel like guilt and shame create an environment that promotes this behaviour.

I had a somewhat similar experience. Two years ago, I stopped playing video games when I noticed, I only did it by habit not because I enjoyed it so much. I remembered reading a lot when I was younger, so I picked it up again to fill my evenings.

It was hard at first. I wasn’t used to focus my attention like this anymore. But as you said, I learned to be patient over time. Now, I look forward to continuing my book every day! It is a great hobby to calm down and relax. As a side effect, my language skills (not english) improved a lot.

FetLife is a good counterexample I did not know yet. And I completely agree: there is nothing wrong with women willingly doing porn.

But looking at other freely available porn, I cannot agree that only some porn studios treat their actors like submissive cash cows doing literally anything to feed the dopamine rush of their viewers. Sure the actors are paid for it. Prostitutes also get paid and still nobody would claim they are enjoying their job. In the end, we all need money to survive.

I agree. In our society, watching porn is normal. I went more after the feeling of the word.

Watching porn to get relief.

I – as many other guys in this society – learned to watch porn at a young age. So I wired sexual stimulation as well as the dopamine release after orgasm to porn. For many years of my life, I would not masturbate without it.

I denied my addiction because everyone watches porn, right? Also I thought, being addicted to porn means sitting at home all day fapping and watching more and more perverse stuff. So I can’t be addicted, if I watch porn once a week, right?

Well, it took me a long time to figure all that out. The society having such a positive attitude towards porn did not help. Maybe, we all are addicted. I think it’s super fucked up. If not due to the effect it has on our brains, then at least due to the humiliation of women for capital.

But isn’t the government hosting something like reddit better than the current state? The government is elected after all, while reddit isn’t. At the same time, nothing ensures, reddit isn’t used for propaganda.
