Ahh that makes the comment I was replying to make way more sense. Didn’t fully realize the extent to which Israel is founded on ethnic superiority

Honestly I’m ill-informed on christofascism, where should I read up on it?
I didn’t think the republicans that have control over our relations to Israel would be ardent on fulfilling biblical narratives. I thought they use Christianity as an excuse and a tool to garner support among uneducated protestants. The typical republican lawmaker doesn’t understand or follow Christian scripture
Kind of unrelated but where do you get your point about republicans wanting to deport Jews to Israel? I’ve never thought about it that way. I thought (in very basic terms) both democrats and republicans supported Israel because it’s a strategic location in the middle east and it’s profitable.
Israel is only 75% Jewish 🤷
Obviously they’re trying to be an ethnostate and like to commit genocide. But it’s not like they’re doing that purely bc it’s only one group of people within their borders.
Why does that matter 😭 you just instantly went to assuming my beliefs instead of saying something constructive.
All I’m trying to say is that the Mennonites aren’t as evil as you think. Please research them to form an actual opinion instead of reading one measles article and then attempting to debate me.
If you’re trying to go after religions for being a blight on society, Mennonites are the last and least influential place to look
They’re anything but selfish lol. Firstly, there are sects of Mennonites that are integrated into modern society. Secondly, the communities they live in are founded on the idea of everyone helping each other. The extreme sects are allowed to waive their right to social security since their church already provides them a safety net. They don’t take gov benefits. Also, all of them have jobs, they’re not sealed off from the world. I live in Ohio and the Mennonites and Amish are frequently working on home repairs, building garages or barns, and sell a lot of goods from their little towns. These are honestly some of the nicest and hardest working people around.
American society is founded on the idea of religious freedom. If anything they’re contributing in a more positive way since they don’t seek to combine their religion and the wider world (as compared to a MAGA “Christian”)
Ehh, mennonites just want to keep to themselves and their communities. Obviously they’ve got some problematic beliefs, but they would never force them upon anyone or go out and try to be missionaries. Typically they don’t vote or participate in local government.
Found this interesting article about OH and PA mennonites and their opinions on the 2016 presidential election
Mane I thought you were gonna say Office Space or like a West Anderson film as a “smart” comedy, not Zoolander lol. I wouldn’t necessarily call that high brow compared to Talladega Nights, but I haven’t seen it in quite some time so could be misremembering. I get what you’re saying though- a lot of the Will Ferrell comedies use really stupid visual laughs (or dead obvious lines) instead of anything that would require thinking a lil.
But that’s the point of Talladega Nights, no? It’s meant to be stupid, silly, and absurd. It’s not a drama, it’s a comedy about race car drivers.
Like if that’s your opinion, fine, im not trying to change your mind. But walking out on a comedy cause you thought it was too stupid is like closing a book because it had too many words.
Yeah it just surprises me that so called capitalists and billionaires would put racism above money. Especially since illegal immigrants are working for basically no pay. Maybe they have an end goal where the disposable work force is entirely black ie return to slavery or close to it
