Everspace 2. The first one was kind of a rouge like but the second feels very reminiscent of Freelancer with a bit of a smaller scope. Something that all the other space games of the last years failed to deliver.

I love Cross code. For me it is for classic SNES action adventures what shovel knight was for platformers. It feels like the old games feel in our memory but with very modern technology and game design.
How about a “Suicide Squad” like run. The players can create all kinds of evil prisoners that get send to kill a thing that all the heros already failed to defeat. Now they can try do to what they are told to in exchange for their freedom or whatever or try to run away and and not risk their own life’s on the way.
A lot of chances to play evil or even reconsider when the little orphan begs for help.
