Maybe from Telus/Rogers/Bell media. Its an issue really, the pro Canadian telecom propaganda is very much a thing here. I am told I have “great internet available” even where I am and then if I try to actually get it they ether say never mind or try and give me a cell modem. I am not alone on this ether, its a major issue.
I don’t think its “compared” to the Rs but just in general they are good for “rich ppl yacht” money. Your instant move to compare the two parties (making bad policy OK by comparing it to “OH FUCK” policy) is why the usa is in the state it is now.

Oh no, oh dear everything no. Maybe in a few cities sure, but where I am I literally have no functioning internet anymore (they let the lines degrade below 1 Mbps) and have massive patches where cell phones don’t work at all (love when I hit a antelope and have to stand on the roof of my car to maybe get enough signal to call a tow).
Like no joke we have the worst and most expensive telecom in the developed (and a lot of the developing) world.

More I expect stupid actions from people in general but I don’t think 16 year olds are any worse then most adults. I used midwesterners as an example of people in the USA that are not the most or least likely to do something really stupid. (more a dig on americans in general)

I can get that to a degree (like a 13 year old) but by 15 or 16 I expect about the same level of adulting as a US midwestern adult (not really a super high bar but enough to know that doing a nazi salute in a place dedicated to the memory of the victims of nazis while on a school trip from the only nation made up of the primary target of those same nazis, might be a life changing act).
I just don’t get the level of coddling that is now going on with an increasingly older limit of what is considered children. I remember working my first part time job at 13 and told by older people then they moved out at the same age (so I should stop complaining or some such), and now I am told about 25 year old “kids”. Its nuts, these are functioning people and although yes some stupid actions are expected when young there is no reason to not hold people to at least a modicum of responsibility.
Here in Canada its getting real weird due to a mix of shit companies and carbon tax with heating. Like when its -40 it costs me about $750 per month in natural gas bills, but the “cost” of the gas itself is about $50 of the bill.
The town I live in reduced the amount of heating gas used in town buildings by 40% but actually saw an increase in costs due to the way carbon tax works for municipalities (basically all costs no rebates). Its not good that pellet stoves (that are not good for the environment) have become cost effective just due to a lack of regulation. Waste oil is also now a commodity (used motor oil) for heating, even though its like wood burning something that I thought was a thing of the past.
Heating costs are getting really wild. I am shocked to see a lot of people and even business moving to burning wood just due to the costs. Like wood burning used to be many times more expensive then almost any other heating method.

We have all been hoping the power is turned off. But it looks like there is some pressure from the power people in Canada to not shut of the flow, for both monetary reasons and technical ones.
