  • “let’s divide the LGBTQ community by making the T kill themselves or be forcefully detransitioned so then we can go after the ones that are left afterwards”

They want people like me and those I love to kill ourselves because it’s cheaper for them than sticking us in camps then they can get to going after the gays. The depressing reality is that there is going to be a sharp rise in trans suicides soon, especially if the ban on Medicaid hrt coverage goes through. Many say death before detransition and they fucking mean it.

And it’s hard to exist in this country as a trans person right now and not just be terrified and feel like taking the easy way out. Even if it’s what they want.

  • I think the biggest problem with your point is that these specific religions have core tenants that center around converting people and “saving” them. Because of that people will always be able to use whatever rationale they want to justify how they’re trying to save people when they’re bigoted towards them.

You might say that religion and faith isn’t the problem, and you’re right that it shouldn’t be the problem. But right now, it is the problem. Right now religion is used around the world to purely spread bigotry under the guise of “saving” the people they’re being bigoted towards.

In order for religion to not be used this way they would require massive reforms that would help push them towards a more genuinely accepting existence. But that won’t happen. At least not in any of our lifetimes. These religions are so old that they get to move as slow as they fucking want to when it comes to modernization.

Religion is being used constantly as justification for being horrible people and allows followers to think they have the literal creator of the Universe behind them. There is no world that exists in the next hundred or several hundred years that does not continue to have religion be used for horrible horrible things.

So fuck it. Are there some good people in there who just happen to believe in God? Absolutely. But religion as an organized structure is really fucking over modern society.

  • But there were queer voices speaking for the campaign. There weren’t really trans people, even though there should have been. But there were definitely queer voices being out there. Also many many progessives campaigned for her as well. Fuckin hell Tim Waltz is an incredibly progressive governor and he was on the ticket.

As for Palestinian voices, sure. Those should have been there absolutely. But them not being there doesn’t somehow invalidate that there still was a coalition of people trying to join together to fight against Fascists.

  • This is something that really bothered me about the recent election. It was clear that Cheney was only campaigning with Harris because she wanted to stop Trump not because she agreed with the policies of Harris. She was still a believer in “Republican” policies but understood the danger of Trump winning and did what she could to make him lose.

The left then said that because she was being put out there by the Harris campaign as someone who would help get people to vote for her that must have meant she agreed with all of Harris’s policies. Which means Harris must have been a Republican and had all Republican policies despite her having multiple rather progressive policies that the majority of people support.

Instead of having the completely rational thought that if a shitty Republican like Cheney refuses to vote for Trump and says we should all vote against him then that’s a positive and should help convince independents and non voters that this was such an important election, they ignored that and made BS assumptions and accusations about the entire Harris campaign. It fucking sucked.

  • How is saying we are deserving of human rights demanding the focus be on us? The only fucking reason we have been so in the news is solely because of the right trying to make our very care and existence in public illegal? Should we just say “we shouldn’t advocate for our rights until the Democrats win?” Because then what’s to stop the Democrats from “winning” by throwing trans people under the bus and saying we deserve to be ostracized? The left-ish party won in the UK and they’ve been shitty to trans people too.

We shouldn’t just stop fighting when people are literally trying to make us kill ourselves and to make our existence illegal. All democrats need to say is “Trans people are deserving of human rights, they should be treated like everyone else, should be allowed to have care and be accepted into society and do whatever anyone else can do. Now let’s get back to how I want to make it cheaper to live”.

We had a candidate in Harris who barely mentioned trans people and that allowed the right to go unchallenged in that area. You can’t just abandon or ignore us, a simple heartfelt defense is all that is necessary, have it in your platform, and then move on to the other more impactful for the rest of the populace policies.

Edit: we’ve been around for forever and only just recently been so present in the news because of the right wing. That’s not our want. We would rather be able to live and exist without the world looking on us as an “issue”.

  • All the Harris campaign had to do to make sure this wasn’t a thing was simply ask for a recount. That’s it. They had the money. I understand that it might have looked bad as if she was a sore loser, but a recount in one swing state would have been easy, could have shown any discrepancies, and we would have known that either nothing happened or something happened.

In 2020 they did recount after recount and always found the same result that Biden won. Not doing recounts is insane.

  • The graph of the data from this survey

Something interesting, according to this survey 27% of democrat non voters want Obamacare repealed. 27% think women are too easily offended. 20% are pro-life.

As the article suggests, however, we shouldn’t really take this data as a defining reason for why democratic voters didn’t come out to vote. Even more so, the data literally shows that the majority still broadly support progressive policies. Portraying this as “oh the Democrats were too progressive or too far left” is BS. The articles first couple paragraphs focus on portraying things from this perspective but it does get better.

I think you should just look at the graph though. That’s the data. And it shows that non-voters were still majority supporters of progressive policies. That’s what matters.

  • I think one of the biggest issues standing in the way of widespread acceptance of trans people is generally not understanding what we actually do or are like.

So like, most people completely misunderstand how hrt works. They think that you do it and only really get a better mental space. But that’s not true at all. Everyone I have known on hormones get so many changes. Our hairlines can change, our bone density decreases or increases to match the gender your hormones match with, our bodies redistribute fat, our skin changes, even our body smells change, we lose or gain muscle mass to again come in line with whatever our hormones match. Our body chemicals change. Estrogen can decrease the size of your feet by a size and can literally make your hips grow and change how your weight is distributed. Testosterone can make you grow a full bushy as fuck beard and a such a deep voice you’ll never know the person ever had a higher pitched one. Everything changes on hormones and cis people just don’t seem to understand that at all. I’ve known many trans people who transition so well that other trans people don’t believe they’re trans and think they’re cis.

Add on that they don’t understand bottom surgery and it just gets annoying as fuck. The fact that cutting dicks off is still how so many cis people think femme bottom surgery works is so fucking infuriating and it happens when leftists reference it too.

I think if more cis people simply knew trans people and were willing to discuss with them about what being trans is like then there would be more general acceptance.
