An NIH official told the Globe that administrators who oversee grants were given barely an hour’s notice of the terminations late last Friday before the notifications were sent out.

So who is actually sending the notifications out? It always is reported as if the people who should actually be doing stuff are somehow being circumvented by some actor that has access to higher levels than them, and can act as they would act, but isn’t known to anybody. This seems like the ‘deep state’ ‘shadow government’ bullshit that the republicans always screamed about. Every accusation is an admission, right?

Even 20+ years ago, it was a struggle. I had a boss who had married someone from Guatemala (I think, or maybe Peru? it’s been a decade since I talked to him) while he was in the military overseas, and ended up having a child with her. When he came back, it took TWO YEARS, the wife and child left behind in south america the entire time, to get them approved to come and live back in the states.

Heh, the amerikkkan answer is simple: don’t let them rent next to you. They’ve accomplished it by ridiculous rent prices, charging inmates to be in jail (so they come out with debt), and shackling them to low paying jobs.
