  • Just as a correction. Railways was set up as a privrate enterprise then nationalised. But unlike most of the rest the rail system was fairly national before gov involvement.

Sewers sorta. They were started as city states long before democracy was a thing iE most cities had basic systems in feudal times. But roll out to rural villages etc was def modern gov.

Electrical grid much the same but started in the 1900s. Privrate city systems some run by local gov some entirly privrate. Standardisation and national unification was def gov in 1938.

Same with the gas grid. A mix of privrate and city run town gas systems from mid 1800s linked and nationalised in 1949. (PS worked for British gas during the privatisation process)

  • Played is a bit strong.

Everyone including starmer had a pretty good idea what trump would do.

But pissing him off has no possible positive. So playing along while trying to form deals else where is really the only option.

Its not like we can force trump to be reasonable. Replacing the US as a trade partner while hoping they fix their democracy. And keeping as much of an allied status untill then. Really is all the UK can do ATM.

Tariffs harm UK trade. But they also harm US customers. At a time when the US has the same cost of living issues we do.

Dispite trumps dumb mathematical claims. We import more per person from the US then they do us. So responding in a tarrif war will lose our gov more support then him.

It is a trade war where you and me choosing to boycott US products is way more effective to the UK then expecting our leaders to try and lay down the law.

Avoiding big US names harms trumps funders with way less harm to our econ long term.

Edit: this means dump coke pepsi(walkers as well) apple, amazon, google, etc etc.

Trumps maths forgets his own parties funders refuse to manufacture in his nation. Him or us applying tarrifs have no effect on most big US corps that fund the GOP. Because we do not actually import their products from the US. We just send profit to the corporate overlords.

Boycotting the US companies manufacturing and selling outside the US to avoid taxation and high labour costs. Harms his party.

  • But just over 7% of brits claiming any disabled benefits.

Please remember these numbers are in no way backing for the crap the government is doing. Most disabled work.

Even most on disabled on benifits work. PIP is not about income. It is about covering the difference in cost for disabiled to live anything close to equally in society. Including getting to and fr work.

  • Anyone who thinks their actually are pip claiments taking the piss. Either have absolutely no idea what pip has been like for the last 14 years.

    Or are delusional.

Getting pip is often impossible without legal action for those who actually deserve it. Hence the huge number of rejected claims who have won in court compared to before this.

Claims for mental health have been even harder.

Unfortunately your claims are part of the evidence how much false crap the media has been spreading on the subject.
