I was wondering if it was the very same Chipzel.

Jpeg XL is such an unsexy name though. (In my opinion) JPEG is already seen as an ancient format, there are plenty of even main stream memes about it’s artifacting quirks. And now you just want to slap more stuff on it? Make it extra large. Sounds like bloat to me!
To be real for a second; I’m sure it’s a fine format and suited for the future, but the name really does put me off it a bit 😄

Now we pray Gaben’s and Torvalds’ names aren’t mentioned in the Epstein files for one more day.

I hope you mean 60hz is enough for TVs. Because I certainly don’t want that regression on my monitor 😄

With their 2.0 version they announced it as stable release. https://github.com/immich-app/immich/discussions/22546
I never used immich before then, but all updates I’ve done since starting (with docker) has worked flawlessly.

WhatsApp is using Signals protocol for communication: https://signal.org/blog/whatsapp-complete/
I don’t fully understand what it entails, but from what I understand is that yes, WhatsApp is using the same encryption and message flow that signal uses, but you’re still using Meta’s app, and they can just read the plaintext message from there.

I got a quest 3 so my options on how to run it are limited to begin with, and I don’t know how native VR devices run on Linux. But i hope general support will improve with valves next VR headset since it will run Linux natively.
And the EU has been on a roll recently with threatening privacy with chat control, net neutrality, rising right-wing politics in many countries. We’re not a mini america yet, but let’s not pretend it’s all roses and unicorns here, there is a lot of fighting still to be done.

You. When you said “we should” that does kinda imply you’re willing to engage in this as well :P
I’ve had Spotify since it basically released. I fully switched to a self hosted music library about 5 months ago. I imagine I’ve supported artists more in those 5 months than I did during my 18-ish years of Spotify premium. I still use Soulseek for large artists or quite old albums, but most new releases and remix tracks I pay for.

GPUs also need memory. So they aren’t escaping this from a consumer POV. Not to mention how production capacity is still being sucked up data centres, but now for AI.

I wonder if we would would really “expect” a new safe icon. Most modern software has auto-saving. Games for example often just use a spinning circle to indicate it’s saving. Word and google docs just say “don’t worry, we’re continuously saving your work” when you hit Ctrl + S.
I imagine if you want to save something locally you have the downward arrow for downloading, or some other icon for moving and copying files.
Very well said. It’s very much the same vibes as the bear in the woods. If you feel offended by a bear winning out, maybe you should ask yourself why that hurts, and understand why women would make that choice.

I didn’t think much of what the “correct” location would be. But i have a general kinda everything share at /var/share/[music,books,video,user folders, repo]. And then any caching or config data sits in that dockers home folder under /etc/docker/[jellyfin,immich,kavita,etc] together with its docker-compose file. All docker services run under the group user so they all have access to the share.

Also the plastic-free ones that only degrade in industrial processes.
I’m a tab collector myself (only around 200 or so), but having multiple windows is just insane. I’m sorry, but that is a hard line I won’t cross. I might open a second window for either private browsing or to keep a video open while browsing in the main window.

I don’t think there is much they can do. No one is going to want to stand up against the US in this, and any escalation from Venezuela would be incredibly costly for them. I suppose there are two things they can hope for; hope the US population throws up enough of a stink the trump changes his mind or wait for something else to come around to occupy his attention.

Are you’re doing it again. Stop the insulting, and ask for a feature like a normal person and someone is a lot more likely to be encouraged to work on it.

Pretty much the entire OSM sphere is developed and populated by volunteers. And they you come along and say they should take their heads out of their ass. Yes, the burden is on the users, because the developers are users themselves. No, not everyone has programming skills, but even nontechnical people can still contribute to the dataset with bus station locations and bus routes.
It’s completely okay to not use a piece of software, and if you have some feedback to give that might sway you, great! But don’t insult the developers because they have limited time and resources.
Believe it or not, but if you wrote down the melody for Bohemia rhapsody (from memory or not) and then sold it, you could be fined for copyright infringement. You can memorise it, you can even cover it, but you can’t just sell it. That part still applies to humans. It’s the redistribution of that information that’s important.
