Absolutely. Again, Israel has never broken step with systemic oppression of Palestinians. I’m not a Rabin fan, but those years are still the closest instance I know of anyone considering peace. Even the stance you quote with all it’s flaws and prejudices was enough to get him killed.
They killed him because he was Palestinian, and Zionists hate Palestinians. It’s like asking why the KKK would harass minorities. The modern state of Israel was literally founded with hatred for Palestinians as a core value and that has not changed in the decades since. The closest anyone ever got to peace with Palestine was Yitzhak Rabin in the mid-90’s and he was assassinated by another Israeli for daring to take a step towards co-existence.
Traitors one and all and history will remember them as such. I’m Canadian and as angry as I am about the huge mess happening between my country and the USA, I’m even angrier about Ukraine. At least Canadians aren’t being killed or having tens of thousands of our children stolen away. I cannot understand the eagerness with which MAGA has embraced Putin. Looking at history until now, I never thought siding with a dictatorial warmongering Russia would be a core Republican value.
As a Canadian - I don’t want to fight the US indefinitely. Our countries are much better off together than apart and everyone with any economic training knows it. I really like a lot of Americans, and they like me. I have had multiple Americans apologize and insult the Trump administration in the strongest language possible. I absolutely know this trade war and abuse from Trump et al. is not what my friends even remotely want.
But your government right now is intolerable. So I’m very much in support of this wave of Canadian national indignation and FAFO but I hope it doesn’t last for long. As long as it takes, but the quicker our two countries return to cooperation the better for citizens of both nations. Even if everyone wanted to, decades of steadfast alliance cannot be undone cleanly and would likely leave our two nations weaker for it.
MAGA folks never care about cruelty until it affects them, then they cry for mercy and compassion. To them the damaging human consequences are either justice, religious imperative, or necessary cost - until they are the ones paying. Now they reap the fruits of their indifference or often full-on support of the suffering of others. I still feel bad for the innocent, like children or those who have opposed this malevolent chaos from the beginning.
You didn’t figure that out when “Haitians are eating pets” was a major campaign point even though everyone near the applicable town emphatically called bullshit? Or when Trump promised to deport between 11 and 21 million illegal immigrants streaming in from Latin America?
